I had a puncture in France, on a new tyre. Used a 'Rema Tip Top' repair kit. Continued to ride the weekend, covered probably 500+ miles. Then had it professionally repaired, and done 5000 miles, without any problems.
Nothing wrong if you are OK with it. Me personally I would change them as it would keep messing with my head . I do carry a puncture repair kit but only for an emergency and to ensure I get home. Having said that my brother in law went to Italy and came back on puncture repaired rear tire. I guess it boils down to each individual.
I probably only ever had two- three punctures in 30+ years so I’ve never really gave it any thought till AndyC did that fast puncture repair at the last gmu. I was impressed with littleade and his discreet kit that turned up just like superman does. So this has made me think and ask as I’ve a bonneville with no storage, what’s the smallest compressor that can be bought??
As it turned out and thanks to the good advice from you guys I finished off that tyre with no problems.
They come pretty small , easy to fit in a bag. My plug kit is in a pencil case and that then goes in the bag with the compressor. So width and length of my compressor is a pencil case obviously the thickness is bigger ( approx 1.5 -2 inches) So they aren’t massive. Just to add I’m sure there will be a few of us carrying them at the GMU. Last GMU there was at least 2 of us. Myself and whoever fixed Jim's tyre. I’m sure there would have been more of us.
For a lazy tw t no ...... For other forum members yes https://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/rac-mini-250psi-air-compressor-323998 It’s cheaper than I remember £7.99
Snow ball hell chance please fill in the appropriate missing words. You'll be asking me to buy it for you next
Try Home Bargains (3 in Huddersfield) for a mini compressor at £4.99 - and it works!! Hose is a bit short though.
Not on the Rocket but had almost new rears punctured on the bikes I had beforehand, GS and an Explorer. Nails right through the centre. Had them plugged at Watling in Catford. No problems.
Got six holes in one go. RAC bloke fixed it with rubber plug thingies and left me his spares and plugging kit as he had another in the van. Told me to stay below 40mph and get a new tyre asap. Have heard of folks doing trackdays with plugged tyres!
