It seems to me that BMW must have a Fugly department, some of the recent design abortions produced leave a lot to be desired :scream:

Not sure if it has been remarked upon but horizontally opposed twins with pistons descending simultaneously ARE pumps. They pressurise the crankcase rather more than even a 360 degree parallel twin which is why a breather is an essential feature of both (and singles)

    Mmmmm,
Are the pistons descending, or moving horizontally.....and do they go from TDC to BDC, or, RDC to LDC? :(;).
    Ken.
PS. We all know the firing order is..this cylinder after that one.
    Or is that 1- 2, or maybe, 2- 1.
Whichever, it’s one before the other, or one after the other.
But no, that’s not quite right because they both fire which ever end the pistons at...I think.

If that’s a real Ditch Pump it would show the plugs firing on EVERY stroke. Da dah. ;).

Not into that sort of thing, but the old Messerschmitt engine should be ideal for that sort of thing

Looks like you could get a “Nimble” sporty R3 for similar money too.
    Ken.
PS. Looking at the length it will likely need rear wheel steering to get round tightish corners.

Ditch/jagger pumps are known to continue to run under some of the WORST conditions. There are several powerplants that could sport that reference.
