Thank you all for your insight. Street Twin it is Vance pipes to annoy my irritating neighbour. Motone tail tidy, led indicators, bar end mirrors and when I can afford it custom painted tank by 8Ball Not sure on panniers Triumph or SG Legend. Just need to pass my test now
Have a look at the Evotech tail tidy. Avoid the TEC one - I bought one and it's not great quality. Anyway, get your test in mate then come and join us in Wales for the July GMU. You'll be able to meet up with some others (e.g. me) for company on the way over and back. Put it in your diary. Don't feel daunted by being among more experienced riders - it's drinking ability that we judge you by. https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/grand-meet-up-2018-wales.12452/
Since you raise the subject, having had experience of machines using EFI in conjunction with cable throttles, I can’t see any advantage in “fly by wire”
Cruise control, ride modes, lighter throttle action etc And that's just quickly off the top of my head, there's probably more.
The new ones do though. There will always be those who prefer rubbing sticks together rather than using matches....
You are correct, however there will always be people who prefer bikes that can be fixed with tools rather than a laptop. Also why does a Bonnie need a 1200cc engine?
Maybe go back to pre unit and Lucas electrics as well ? I actually like both. I'm lucky enough to have a Bonnie for spannering and bimbling and a Speed for speed and gadgetry. Any prob's with the Speed it goes to the dealer, if there's any prob's with the Bonnie, I'll do it myself. (Still needs a laptop though, for fault codes.)
No, definitely no return to Lucas, Prince of Darkness.. tbh I’m not impressed with the fly-by-wire throttle, at settings below 1/4 throttle.
I wasn't impressed with the FI at low throttle openings on the 1050 motor until it was changed it in 2016. Far better at low throttle openings then. Some of the problem is they run them as lean as possible for emissions. I got mine dyno'd at Hilltops and they boosted the bottom end by a massive chunk. I suspect proper mapping would have sorted out the earlier 1050 jerkiness. I find the Bonnie a bit jerky, but with the low power, you can just welly your way past it
I had them on my Meriden Tiger 100... still as throaty as ever. https://www.dunstallmotorcycles.com/product/dunstall-classic-silencers-triumph-bonnevillet100/
Once I've finished fiddling with the Bonnie, I'll get it mapped. It'll be interesting to compare it to the other half's std Bonnie.
