Played Rugby until I was 40 at the fag an’ a pint at half time level and scarily that was 16 years ago When I can escape the family Now, fishing is the order of the day, and spent the last few years on the dark side chasing carp culminating in a personal best at 25lb - now when I was a lad a fish that size would make the front page of the Angling Times, today due to commercialisation of carp fishing no one bats an eyelid (British record now 71lb!!) and once I found a decent venue (which actually had fish present) was scarily easy to catch because all the tricks and strategies to catch these most reclusive creatures are available to anyone off the shelf!! So after last weeks baking weather and this weeks changeable weather, I am planning an expedition to a local small river in the middle of nowhere for next week to catch roach Rudd and Chubb on Centrepin reel and a cane rod - back to simplicity and peace and quiet
Yes Pete is a good mate of mine. Check out the good looking baldy bloke in the Ford overalls in Brambles recovery film. I first spotted that car a few years ago when pulling out of a building site opposite in a low-loader and took this pic. Recovery day.
The Zlin, unusual aircraft for a model? There used to be a civilian one flying (full size) at RAF Wyton several years ago.
Part of the facination of the hobby is to build models of aircraft that while not exactly unusual are a little different from the run of Spitfires, Mustangs, Chipmunks etc etc. if you can find an unusual paint scheme, then so much the better. My Zlin is based on a machine used in full size aerobatic competition during the 1970s and was sponsored by a Serbian Brewery! The 'real' aeroplane doing its stuff below. Took a slight liberty with the canopy on the model. The MO of this type of aeromodelling is to recreate the performance of the original aircraft in miniature - competitions are run, but I usually just fly for my own pleasure these days.
Continental camping rallies FIM Moto camps, Meritum and Major rallies, Tententreffen near Bruges most years. Very involved with National Police Aid Charity, collecting and sorting donations, loading forty foot shipping containers of aid for deserving countries. Tuesday next we are loading for The Gambia in Colwick then on to Mansfield to top up before shipping, a busy day. Sometimes get time to clean the Trophy but not often.
