I,.. THOUGHT I read somewhere that late 900 thruxtons had a slightly louder or less restictive exhaust than the early ones.. Now I have searched all over the place and can't find any comments that repeat this. So did I dream it or can anyone confirm this is true..
My Thruxton is a 2011 900 EFi, so one of the later ones? The stock silencers are have for it are quite muted, but the TP ones I have sound great. I know that doesn't exactly answer your question though.
Swampy61 Sorry can't help either. But if you are not happy just listen to a few alternatives on YouTube. Joe.
Swampy61 You only live once mate. We toil we fight most of our life to stay on top. Now you deserve a treat or a little bit of me time grab it and put the smile back on your face you earned it. Joe.
That is why the sprint has been replaced by the the thruxton But the last time I had a standard exhaust on a bike was 1980 it is strange experience riding a quiet bike lol
The Thruxton 900 factory muffler cans are pretty mute, except at WOT. More sewing machine than anything else. The only change with the EFI models is a slightly larger (stepped) header pipe diameter at 1.75" where the Carb models are 1.5" I believe.
.. Am considering those when funds allow, but currently the 2 - 2 that I prefer on thruxton are out of stock
I have the 2-1 pipes from TEC on my Thruxton and highly recommend, price is more than reasonable as well. Plus they’ve just released an even shorter baffle to pop in the pipe which improves the sound again.
Try this. Didn’t realise I’d made a whole post about it https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/tec-tracker-2-1-exhaust-for-thruxton-900.13557/
I think there is a video in that thread about half way down showing the sound - I can try and make a new one over the next few days if I can find the time of the sound with their new baffle in.
... Thanks for the info, I had read all your posts about fitting Tec and that had us short listing TEC 2-2 just cos I preferred the twin pipe look. But we came across Arrows 2-1 on fleabay for TEC money and knowing it was the same pipe but with better welding we did the deal.. First time out on it was today with a run up to Bill Smiths for a remap to suit. Runs really smooth and strangely the popping on the overrun has disappeared, a bit puzzled by that as the AI is still in place. Oh and we have a spare baffle to play with to fine tune the acoustics,
