These days you don't get anything for being a loyal customer you have to do what you have done(the leg work) to get a Ok deal.
Definately the case that they all are at it. I rarely stay with a company for more than 1 year. First year is usually very good then come renewal it gets hiked
As a few others do I always search for a better deal on all my insurance renewals bikes, cars, house etc. Loyalty means nothing to these people so don't accept your renewal quote, it only takes a few minutes these days to search for a better deal.
Just insured the Bonnie. Not ridden for the past 30 years, so nil ncb. Was surprised that it worked out at only £143 for the year and that includes full RAC breakdown homestart and recovery, helmet and leathers cover, legal ex's and limited continental use, fully comp with 5k miles a year with Bennetts. Bennetts had an offer on and I got 70% off the RAC and add ons. In light of Crispey's experience renewal time may be interesting
Phone around to give yourself a guild line as you will see from my own experience on this thread you have to play one up against the other, there's no loyalty in this game.
I got both mine covered for £350 on Hastings with s few extras and business use, I'm sure I could get it for a bit less but couldn't be arsed to sit on my PC for half a day!
They also just `invent` new policies that we `need`! My excess has gone up to £550 after changing my bike, so to keep that down I can buy another policy to reduce my excess to £50. Price? £39 for the year. "Can I just reduce the excess please?" "No sir, sorry" I HATE insurance companies. Legalised theft. ATB Bob
Lets face it all these type of companies are at it including utilities, breakdown cover, all insurance cover, warranties etc etc its a job on its own researching who to go with to get the best deal.
Ok Here we go again!!! Insurance up for renewal in a few weeks time, Hastings have informed me that they will not insure my Thruxton due to underwriters pulling their cover for this bike!! What the hell!!! Every year I go through this! I'm getting well pee'd off. Who's got an EFi Thruxton and where does your insurance come from?
I`m with littleade on this one. Comparison websites as sad as they sound wipe the floor with everyone. I got a multibike quote the last day from carol nash and the woman on the phone was literally delighted to tell me for 3 bikes all fully comprehensive it was £1500. I near fell off my chair. Comparethemeerkats were £100 odd quid each. "Oh it's the level of cover" I hear. Listen, Book value at best and how do we avoid paying out is the name of the game with all of these fuckers. Read the small print and listen to the jargon. `Repairers of our choice` an excess for this and an excess for that, `Not at fault claims will affect future policies` etc. Wankbags.
Ok, heres the latest. Just been on the phone and its multibike insurance policy with the Business use , which is basically going to your place of work if it isnt in the same location, and travelling to and from a regular place of work thats the problem Theirunderwriters won't cover that. But if i insure them seperately it'll be £600 for the tiger and £350 for the thruxton!! without business use is quite reasonable, 130 for the Thrux and 140 for the tiger. or 221 on multibike. How much business are they going to lose Jeez why they cant say this in the letter i don't know, anyways off to compare the dingly danglies I go
