Fantastic run to Bute today left early this morning and took the Aberfeldy road Stopped off for breakfast at a place i discovered when i did the "west highland way" Beinglas Camp site at Inverarnan (near the Drovers Inn up the side of Loch Lomond) you have to cross the wooden bridge to get to it..didn't get breakfast as they were really busy with walkers and didn't fancy waiting 30 mins so decided to get breakfast at Arrochar just before the "Rest and be thankful"..full English served in a plastic container still it was half the price i would have been at the camp site. headed along the A83 then turned off the road to Colintraive (A815) to get the ferry to Bute..i was way ahead of schedule and caught the 10.30 ferry Stopped off in Rothesay and had a look round then had a ride around the island, pretty good road all the way round Got the 12.40 ferry back over and headed towards Dunoon there was a few miles of single track road but it was the best single track I've seen, brilliant surface and loads of passing places Stopped of at Loch Eck up past Dunoon stopped off at Inveraray as there were loads of bikes and a couple of police vans showing everyone their high tech cameras headed up another of my favourite roads the A819 to Dalmally then the brilliant road from there to a busy Green Welly and back home via Loch Earn..What is it with roads up the side of lochs ..they are all brilliant!!
Having just done a loose nc500 in a car I know exactly what you mean about the roads, wether on the side of a loch or not! Can't wait to get up there in July on the bike!! My road trip will be reported on soon, once I have a day off!! With photos I hope!
it was just over 300, there were loads of bikes out today, all the roads on the west coast are brilliant..it's very difficult not to misbehave
How can two guys have such different Sundays ???....... I'm sitting in a quiet showroom (working) looking at random shyte on my laptop and you're out doing THAT !!!!! Yer a lucky man Dougie
i was speaking to Chris in Inveraray, Orange and Black (the company i have booked my Canada trip with) had a stall there today and Chris works part time for them!
Yes he's now specializing in HD Touring. I'm waiting on the day he part ex's his Rocket 3 for one of those mahoosive Harley Road Gliding things
Had a couple of great nights in the bar of Beinglas campsite when walking the West Highland Way and out walking. Lovely area
That looks like a top day out Dougie. I did a few of those roads many years ago with my wife on a VFR750FJ. My old fella lives in Roslin and back then he had a caravan. He took it to a site at the bottom of Loch Lomond and left it with us for a week. We parked the bike in the awning and went off each day to a different location, Doune Hill climb and motor museum, Faslane etc. It was funny to see the looks on people's faces as we got the bike out of the awning each day with no sign of a towing vehicle. Pissed it down all the way from Yorkshire, was fine all around the Loch's then pissed it down all the way home. Fab roads tho, will have to do it again some day.
Went to Oulton Park on Sunday for the BSB qualifying via Buxton, Cat & Fiddle (shame about the 50's...). On the way back came through Castleton. Didn't have time to stop and get a shot with the bike in so had to do a quick selfie at the side of the road!
Sunshine again!! took a run up to Crieff then up the side of loch Earn and down through the Trossachs, stopped off at Drymen for a coffee and spent a few hours riding around the Campsie Fells then back home over the Glendevon Rd.
I really think dougie is trailering his bike around some South European country and just wheeling it out for photos! Please refer to my post in what did you do with your triumph today!
Jammy sod, all I've managed is 60 miles in two days, that's 15 each way to and from work Make the most of the sun, no, not at all jealous.
