Took advantage of the glorious weather and decided to have a run up to Glen Coe Stopped off at Loch Earn and took a photo of "The Mirror Man" Glen Ogle Rannoch Moor Heading towards Glen Coe Probably the most photographed mountain in Scotland Buachaillie Etive Mor AKA "The Buchallie" Stopped off at the Clachaig Inn a couple of miles before you get into Glen Coe village. If you're not paying attention you will miss the sign and the turn off
Part 2... View from the Ballachulish bridge Turned off the A82 onto my favourite road the A86 it is always quiet as most people either stay on the A82 up to Inverness or they are on the A9 up north to but this road connects the A9 to the A82 and it seems it's only there for motorcyclists to have fun!! Lots and Lots of sweeping bends ..and you don't need to reduce your speed! It has the odd bit of straight road! But not for long!! I really cant recommend this road enough, i passed about 6 cars coming the other direction on the 30 mile or so stretch and there were no cars going my direction! a couple of miles before you get to Glencoe Village if you turn off the main road and 1/4 mile up this road you will find the Clachaig Inn a popular place for hill walkers and mountaineers..a hidden gem! i love it up there when it's sunny the scenery takes your breath away..it's hard to keep your eyes on the road
Cracking place to live when the sun shines! Looks very different to how I remember Scotland. Always 'kin pisses down when I've made the trip.
Beautiful. You're very lucky to have that on your doorstep. Bikes not bad either! I look forward to adding to this gallery soon. ATB Bob
cheers Dougie. just what I wanted to see! I havent been on my bike for 2 weeks now and its going to b e at least 4 more days, so just keep posting and letting me know what im missing
yeah i know how lucky i am am , Glen Coe is only 100 miles away and on days like this it is a magical place..unfortunately these days are are few and far between! that's why i have to make the most of it while it lasts!
I was up that way on Wednesday too Dougie, I had a coffee at 11.00 am at the Green Welly while I pondered which road to take next. Decided on the A85 to Oban and had fish & chips while sat looking out onto the bay, then down the coast to Lochgilphead on the A816 (my new fav road) - Inverary - Arrochar - Loch Lomond then home. 301 miles in wall to wall sunshine....does it get any better
Gary that was the route we took when i was out with Lou and my mate, brilliant roads right enough i bet the view down the rest and be thankful looked great if only we could get weather like that every week. The Glencoe road was quiet and i was hoping the road to fort William would be too as it is a fantastic road, but it wasn't , i think I've only ever been on it a couple of times when it hasn't been busy.i must have just missed you as i think i was at the green welly about 10.30 ish We will have to get another run again, midweek does seem the best time to avoid the traffic
Yes it was gorgeous out there yesterday Dougie.... the Arrochar Alps especially so. The stretch between Ballachulish up to Fort Bill is always busy isn't it, i've never had it to myself to enjoy the twisties Midweek runs are all i'm doing from now on.... I was out last Saturday up the East coast of Fife and it was a bloody nightmare.... folks dawdling about at 24mph looking at scenery holding up the whole line of traffic, why are they not fined £100 and given 3 points !!... it's every bit if not more dangerous than speeding with every bugger trying dodgy overtakes to get past. Anyway.... yes give me a shout if you're out and about through the week
Run up to Devils bridge again today... Followed by the bike meet at Wray... Some fantastic bikes up there. Old, new, exotic. All sorts. Summat for everyone. Loads of scooters there too. Some lovely Lambrettas. Good job were not in the sixties still ATB Bob
And again today... A pair of wasps... Anthony Gothards S3 94R in the foreground, mine is t'other one. Slap bang in the middle of the three peaks. Road goes from Hawes to Ingleton. ATB Bob.
Got some great video footage with the wasp on above ride out, dont know how to post them, any advice anyone ? have the camera set at 15 mins but this in hd is just over a gig per file in mp4 format. Im assuming the files are too big?
