I am feeling guilty I didn’t check my stocks of cleaning solution sooner........ it was a slightly anaemic mix but I was able to blow through the orifices and enjoy a little tickle......

Come on darkman I suppose you know the BIG O is Scottish, he’s probably beaten himself up buying oils, battery, plugs etc as it is.
So don’t add to his woes suggesting he spends more money ;):)

As most buyers don't have a clue how to set twin points i would see electronic ign as a bonus, even i gave up on my old points last year and fitted electronic as its fit n forget :) can't believe all the hours i wasted doing them before.

Generally a good thing and a logical way to improve the beastie. 'If it doesn't show then who's to know?' would be my mantra (high comp pistons and lumpy cams anyone?).
Front brake, concentric carbs and later exhaust downpipes (with the balance pipe) will prevent a concours win anyway, but it will be a better bike for them when it comes to actually riding it.:grinning:

Carbs rebuilt, gaskets and O rings replaced with genuine Amal gasket kit. Can buy everything for these carbs.
Got some very nice cotton covered fuel line, I know its not OEM, but it looks really nice.

Take care when replacing the carbs. Do not over tighten them as the inlet manifold can deform apparently, which means you then can't get a good seal. I'm not sure if this applies to just monoblocs, concentrics or both but I've seen it mentioned a few times in various publications. I don't remember it being a problem when I were a lad, but maybe I was just lucky.

When I took them off, they had a gasket and a O-ring. On the replacements is a slip of paper instructing not to use both! Does seem a bit belt and braces with both, but thought just the vagaries (never typed that word before!) of british engineering in the 60's !

Will take care tightening, thanks Steve.

The gasket is used on single carb engines as they usually have a heat spacer fitted :)

Funnily enough, been working on the old girl today. Pulled the oil tank off, and been giving that a good clean inside. The old oil har reverted back to tar! :p

What function does this switch perform, the thumb slider and the press on top? Thanks.

As you can see looking at electrickery on the ol girl. Wiring loom is a feckin mess, with a few of those horrible screw connectors thrown in.

Don't think these are OE! :dizzy:

If my distant memory serves that is the old headlight switch and dip/main beam?

Is that not the three position rocker switch on top of the headlight? If not, what does that do then?
