Rebuild thread. Will update as we progress. I know how you like photos so let's get started.

Tank and seat off. Fuel pipes are as hard and brittle as cast iron.

    DSC_1071.JPG
Side panel off. 7/16 coming in very useful. Recognised size of bolts straight off, all coming back to me.

Crank is a 360 degree jobbie. Pistons rise and fall together.

I presume alternate firing? As one sucks other is on bang and then blow / squash as a pair. Doubt they had big bang engine back then:p

No. Both bang at same time. Pararel means that as apposed to in line Twin which is one up one down.

Coat it in molasses or stick the rusty chromed bits in a bath of molasses, it will eat the corrosion off/away, leaving you with bright shiny bits that require minimal Polish work.

Both right. It IS a parallel twin fitted tranversely (side to side) rather than longitudinally (in-line). And they do fire alternately unless twingled with a camshaft mod to go Big Bang. If you have ever ridden one two up under moderate acceleration you can feel the power strokes as it labours a little.......or maybe it is just the vibration!

Suzuki and Kawasaki made three cylinder twins in the 70’s (when it rained) : unamused:

Another mod that’s possibly been done to Bonny is the fitting of Amal Concentric carbs.

I think they were first fitted in ‘67/68 ???? but I may be wrong  twas a long time ago is my excuse.

Standard fitment would have been Amal Monoblocs.
