My pleasure. Just don’t leave them on as long as I did lol. I went out for the last ride of the year last year and saw cords showing when I was half way through my ride. Yikes.

Lashed it down today on a ride out, took a few hours to clean all the filth off, lots of farm traffic about spreading the usual rubbish, it didn't phase the tyres (or me), I love the narrow roads we have in the sticks, brushing past dry stone walls and hedges, I prefer these to the more open roads to be honest, the sound of the Yoshimura exhaust reverberating off the walls is intoxicating. Fitted new frame protectors after drying it off.

Ok, time for an update. I now have 7345 km’s on the tires and they are down into the wear bars now. They still handle and feel fantastic in the dry, although the profile is probably a little flatter but hardly noticeable. In the wet they are fine until a more aggressive throttle is applied, then not so good anymore. I have the new Avon 3D Ultra EVO at my dealer to be mounted. I will probably have it put on soon. Here is photo of the tire with 7345 km’s on it.

Well I had the new rear tire put on today. Avon 3D ultra EVO. Next generation of the 3D ultra Sport tires. Supposed to be stickier and last just as long, I’ll update on that.

So my tire is almost at the same tread ware of yours after less than 3k miles :)weary_face:). Initial tread ware looked promising but fell off so hard and fast. Put the tire on at 5800 miles and I just rolled over 8100miles. Just ordered a set of Pilot Power 2CT's since that's what I currently and always have run on my R1 since they're on sale at STG, set for $269, doesn't get much better than that.

No burnouts, no track days, I ride pretty aggressively but no more so than the next sport bike rider.

That’s too bad you didn’t get a little more out of them. Well I guess you got what you initially hoped for, but a more would have been nice. It’s funny how the same bike can produce different results from a tire. So many factors I suppose. When upright on the highway I’m not hard on the throttle, but one I’ve reach the twisties I am. Maybe that would extend the life of the centre of the tire. I’ve never worn out the sides of the tires yet, as I have too much highway riding to do first. Let me know how the 2CT’s work out on the bike.

Hi SteveRS, how did you get on with the Avon 3d Ultra Evo? How many miles did it last? I have the Spirit STs fitted at the moment and they’re fine and lasting very well, but I’d like to try the 3d Evos if they last okay….. both tyres are manufactured only about 30 miles from my home, which is really nice!

I've had the Spirit STs on for a few thousand miles now - still good. And made in England.

Ha! That’s a shame, when I bought my Speed Triple he was a great source of information.
