2nd full swing by me and the picture speaks for itself. So that's 6 hits or so by my 10 year old plus 2 full swings by me. Must say I thought the results, although not very scientific, seemed impressive. A hammer test may not be representative of real world circumstance but a kerb , or other road furniture, coming along at say 100 mph may create a similar impact.
I had intended to measure the shell thickness but in a good way the shell had de-laminated so any measurement would have been meaningless.
The inside at the end of "testing". Seems pretty good to me, what do you think? For some reason I can't delete the pic of a broken mountain bike gear hanger. Mr O?
Only an accurate test if the helmet was being worn,,look forward to updates,,try recruiting any of the young men found loitering near your parked bike.
Well said ,how do I go about donating my old helmet? It would be very reassuring in the event of an accident that the person or persons trying to remove my helmet have had plenty of practice
I would suggest contacting one of the groups that does "First bike on Scene" courses, or possibly your local ambulance station and chatting to the guys there as each area is different, I donate to a local FBOS group.
