Welding on gearbox cleaned up and faced, drilled and tapped for 5/16th stud. Crankshaft cleaned out and all three parts bolted back together with new ground hi tensile grade 8 bolts
As i have been over the paint shop repairing a Bentley front wing this week i managed to do a few black bits fur Su's 5T.
Long day today as i had to prep and prime all the frame and various parts for a job i'm doing but managed to rebuild the crank with its new rods n shells The rods are special Harris rods that take shells rather that the old fashioned white metal caps.
Very cool, @darkman! But in this photo, I find myself curious about that blue coffee (or tea?) mug. I can read part of it but am wondering what the missing parts say.
Its a promotional RIZLA fag rolling paper mug in a not so common blue that Crescent Racing painted their SUZUKI race bikes in BSB and MotoGP as RIZLA is one of their sponsors Sandi, most people know RIZLA as a green colour but they do various colours to denote the paper thickness
The green is not so common here (Mascotte seems to be more common with that colour) - as well as the green RIZLA has orange (thick paper) and this blue, which is the thin variant
I did try some liquorish papers years ago, yuck! i did use the blue papers when our local team Crescents was in BSB but have reverted back to the old faithful green papers
Final clean of the crankcases and trial fit of the new sump plate with inbuilt drain plug and magnetic stick
Original plate is just a plain cheap steel pressing that you have to remove all four bolts just to drain oil and use new gaskets so this makes it far easier with just the drain plug
"Final clean of the crankcases"... Clean is certainly right. It looks so clean right now that you could eat off it. Actually, what is really looks like to me is a work of art--a sculpture.
I looked through the whole thread - a lot of effort went into it and it looks really awesome. Maybe because I've never gone over my bike that deep.
Well that's enough body work and landscaping and back to building the engine for Su's 5T bottom end all back together
