It thinks a bit like a ’sell by date’ as we all know is bollocks. Well you can either live with it and let it piss you off till you sell the bike, or keep putting new batteries on OR have a can -bus modification done that’s reversible if you sell the bike
Follow this post i made last year on here Sorry as I don’t know how to make a link. Just paste it in search

    Hi DD
I can see how that can happen with the condensation, but luckily it hasn't happened so far. I haven't ridden the bike for over a month now with this rubbish weather, and if I hadn't have started it each week for about 30mins and is up to temp, the battery would be flat now. but as It started the other day, all is well, and no water in the oil. I will be looking at an Optimate 4 it does sound a lot better. :)

Hi and welcome i had 2 batteries fail then the bike would not start i couldnt find the promblen would turn over battery flat in a few seconds got an auto Electrication and had a short to earth on the clutch switch he ran a new earth cut out the lead that tells the computer the battery is under 12volts and now the bike can sit for weeks and will start. before the short happened wouldnt start if it sat for a week if you look it up the bike will not start if the volts drop under i think it is 11.9 volts tells the copmputer there is not enough volts i have a t100 2008 bonniville

Update! - Just had it serviced at Laguna, and MOT'd. They noticed battery was not charging properly and have to order a part at £339 from Triumph. I'm not technical but the description reminded me of the old Ignition coil. Bit miffed, especially as the whole bill will be around £900 with a new rear disc... The whole bike still looks new and only done 12,000 miles.. I wonder if anyone other owners have had similar part failure (Wire-starter??) Thanks for all your help

Thanks - that reminds me - the dealer measuered only 6 volts!!! And I'd been using the recommended Optimate regularly to keep it charged up,,

Did laguna offer some sort of warranty with the bike?
    If so, definitely a claim!!!

Hopefully this is the end of the saga; I've just had a new battery fitted. In November I paid out over £900 for a service and MOT incl new disc (£200) and ignition coil (£325), but the starting/battery problems continued.. EM light came on so dealer had to pick the bike up. I've used the Optimax 4 charger for nearly a year so I'm hoping the new battery will put an end to being stranded!! I've complained direct to Triumph via a survey they put out last year but heard nothing back... Thanks again for all your advice; esp re the charger (Why the dealer/Triumph themselves hadn't recommended one I'll never understand)
