WARNING I read a US customer's review on Amazon; the customer found the imitation one so poorly machined it didn't work. If you aren't buying the original Cobrra (spelt correctly, not a typo) make sure it has a guarantee. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Myself, I'm gifting a Cobrra Nemo on the "To Stan, From Stan" basis. Spent a good while gazing at my Suzuki, before figuring exactly where I'm going to mount it: just aft of the footpeg. . Why there? Because: 1) It minimises the amount of plumbing, and; 2) It's a little inconvenient, which counteracts my tendency to overlube. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What lube? The Net is abuzz, but the products that score some consensus are: "Genuine"products (Cobra; Scottoil, etc) Gear oil (80W90 - or even heavier in our hot climate) Hydraulic oil (not hydraulic fluid) Chain saw oil I have tried ordinary engine oil. It does work, but it makes a helluva mess. I find aerosols quite good. Wax or lube, they both work. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Best cleaner: paraffin. Cheap, effective, non-damaging. Cleans chain plus metal parts. After cleaning the chain with paraffin, wipe the chain dry before applying lube or activating chain oiler. And do try the lubricant shown below (but not before riding!) Good wine, fellas. Regards Stan South Africa
I' using the cheapest mineral chainsaw oil in my scotty and it works perfect for nearly 20 years. Do not use biologic oil..this will kill the X and O-rings
Well, now I've returned to the world of chain maintenance it'll be gear oil for me. I find these little things make it very easy to apply a light coating, incidentally.
Mine just arrived. There are extra tube junction and seal ring. Will be on the motorbike soon. The overall impression is very good.
Post No.46 in this thread.https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/another-uk-unlikely-new-owner.24647/page-3#post-445173 Mostly hidden from view and works perfectly.
Yep, install was a right faff. There's not that much room to hide one on a SS and I wanted it concealed as much as possible. Refilling and using it is childsplay.
Which ever one you go with, no matter how or where it's installed they're one of the most usefull accessories you can fit IMO.
I'm planning on mounting one near the footpeg. Inconvenient, possibly even downright dangerous. But it counteracts my tendency to overlube!
I’ve used an Osco for many years already, use chainsaw oil in it. Once every 200 km’s or so one small pull at the end of a ride and oil drips on a warm chain. works perfectly. On my Black bird never changed the chain in 50k+ kilometers.
Here it is, I finally completed the oiler installation. I designed and 3D printed a 2 sides oiler that fit the Sprint ST 1050 and can be installed properly. Pictures are not nice, but that works.
