Interesting pic JD, my wife had an non turbo ecclispe, looks like on the turbo version they shoved the engine over 5-6" towards the passenger side and tilted more towards the front to make room for the turbo. Might explain that left front traction issue. The crossfire with front engine/RWD somehow manages a 56/44% front/rear weight distribution not sure how they arrived at that. Anyhow the stock 215 hp MBZ 3,2 liter engine can cheaply be boosted to 260hp (as the old saying goes there's no replacement for displacement and associated torque). The srt-6 version of this car/engine with
the AMG built supercharged engine putting out 360hp is not cheap. Anyhow I washed this cheap 15 year old car today.

This one is not turbo. The plumbing is a cold air induction kit I was running at the time. It is a 3 liter V-6 [205h.p.]. You can only see the front cylinder bank. The rear bank is stuffed up next to the firewall. The flywheel end is under the cold air induction, along with a 5-speed.transaxle. Real "fun" too work on. ...J.D.

That explains a lot, the 95 my wife had was only a 1.8 liter I think, flywheel on passenger side. Also no fun to work on as water pump, belts, timing belt etc, were up against the driver side strut tower.

Mine is the 3rd. generation of the Eclipse line. Completely different car. You still have the issue with access to belts, water pump etc. They redesigned the chassis in 2000 to allow room for the V-6 to be an option. These were designated the "GT". Mine is a 2001. ...J.D.
