World superbike chiefs have set out changes to the format for next years races. With the loss of stock 1000 there is a gap in the existing race programme and after negative feedback from some circuits over the races being split with a race on Saturday and on Sunday the new format will be a race on Saturday, a “sprint” race on Sunday morning and a full race on Sunday afternoon. Work to decide how the qualifying and points will be awarded is ongoing.

Although announced first, my understanding is that the Stock race went to free up the timetable to rejuvenate the WSB programme and flagging interest. It certainly needs it!

they seem to be clutching at straws the superbike series is dead on its feet until all manufacturers put a decent amount into it ,Honda a joke ,no Suzuki ,Yamaha ,Bmw trying only ones taking it seriously are Ducati and Kawasaki ,and wtf cut superstock 1000 at least that was close racing and the closest you could buy for the street ,what the whole series was about from the outset, lower classes are ok

i think the fact that Motogp has been in a golden era for the past 7/8 years is not helping WSB,maybe they should look at cutting the electronics like they have done in BSB

Ducati hit by 250rpm loss by organisers of world superbike, Honda given 500rpm increase.
Can’t see 250 rpm making much difference when the thing revs to 16,400 while the rest are all sub 15,000
