Wow, that would be fantastic if they can get it together. October maybe a little late in the season weather wise and access to the island via the small number of ferries could be tricky. But let’s watch this space. Hope it can be made to work. The coast road is very scenic....!

That part of road along the coast used to be incredibly bumpy, even on my old CB 550/4. So what it would be like at super bike speeds I shudder ( literally ) to think. At least you won’t have to contend with the feckin caravans ....

Have just checked to see if I can book a ferry ticket but Red Funnel have not got crossings info for October yet. I may book when available and hope it all gets sorted. It’s a great place to go for a few days regardless.

You could check out WightLink ferries from Lyminton as well.

Could well be up for this - only prob is busy time for me at work and never sure of dates.

But gotta encourage road racing - it's phenomenal :)

Wow, Did you see the local reaction? Lots of negativity with noise, crashes, and tourists being the biggest complaints. Every reader post had the same amount of "likes" as "dislikes". Some support, but mostly rooted in "how much can I charge for ...". It will be a struggle. It's always the same with public road courses.

I hope it works out! All islands should have bike races, right?

Here's a ride through of the course.

I’m from the Island. Just thought I would update you on a few points.
The Military Road - it was hellishly bumpy but it has recently been graded and surfaced. The road is now probably the best on the island. Apparently the permissions have all been granted and the council is supportive, there is however resistance from the NIMBY population in the villages, the thought of 200 mph bikes going passed their retirement homes is a step too far. I would say however that the vast majority of islanders and local traders support this, it is just what the island needs.

Every islander who is against the races should be required to run a lap on a bike of at least 900ccs and then report back their opinion.
