I guess it is easy to speculate about how you feel in regard to your health. I like many love riding motorbikes, lived a life of drinking lots of beer and eating what I liked. Put on loads of weight. Add in a stressful job and bang I have a stroke aged 61. That was a proper wake up call. I still ride motorbikes, but I now exercise and do all of the other things in moderation. There is no doubt in my mind that had I not changed my life style I would not be here now. Just putting this out there for you to consider.....
But DD we’re a broad church, for me bikes have been a lifelong obsession. I fix them, restore them, ride them, and had plenty of adventures on them, but I don’t really see myself as a “biker” more of a Motorcycling enthusiast.
Likewise. Suffered a stroke at the age of 46, work / home life stres related. 14.5 stone at least 2 stone over weight. Massive wake up call. Have not exceeded 13.5 stone since, a real struggle to keep the weight down at the age of 60. Gym 3 days a week, golf one day, plenty of dog walks, no alcohol Mon to Friday. Plenty of motorcycle riding as well of course
The stress is a killer, I sold my business last year and now work as a consultant three days a week, it’s transformed my life, the stress levels have dropped and I’ll never go back to a “proper” job ever again. Just enjoying time with Mrs H and the family, they were neglected for many years so it’s now time to invest in my family.
Stay strong Dilli! The anticipation and the thought of how good it will taste never matches up with reality , keep chanting the fatties prayer ... I am fat because I eat, and I eat because I am fat!
There is some serious misinformation out there about diet; most of it fed (sic) by the food industry peddling pseudo science much like actresses being paid to trill about some wonder ingredient to remove lines sold at half the price in cream for shrinking piles! A bloke I used to work for had a splitting headache and refused to take Feminax (paracetamol & codeine) on the same basis. THIS https://thebloodsugardiet.com/ is about as close to ground truth as you will get. Most of our modern Western woes are down to excess consumption of refined carbohydrates causing: overweight, bloating, sticky blood etc., but just don’t expect anyone selling bread, biscuits, pizza, chips, booze, pasta etc., to admit it. The basic mechanism is that the body converts excess carbohydrates into a form in which it can store them for the next famine.....fat. Excess dietary fat, on the other hand causes problems of its own but mostly gets dumped - literally. Our forefathers ate less bread of a much rougher kind and burnt it off labouring. Their forefathers didn’t even farm. For millennia they were hunter gatherers that struggled to survive winter. Our evolution has not caught up with our diet and lifestyle of one long, glorious, self indulgent summer. Cheers!
Stay strong Dilli, When you're visiting the pie eaters in hospital post their Stent operations you can treat yourself to a turkey bacon, avocado and quinoa wholemeal wrap. As someone who's inside leg is 12 inches less than the circumference of my waist I feel the pain of the fatties
DD so let me get this right; You got lumbered with the weekly supermarket shop by SWMBO and now your trying to wind us up by disguising it as an over indulgent snacking session!!!! Sussed ya Come on Dilli switch on to the reality, he's having to earn it!
