I'm on Smirnoff (my measures)and lemonade, slimline of course, gotta keep my figure in check, lol. Just had to help the Mrs finish a bottle of prosecco first to wash down the chicken chow mein. Merry Hic mas
Bit of a Xmas Eve tradition. Sulwath Brewery in Castle Douglas, drinking a pint of Galloway Gold. They sell it as a lager, but it's not. Full bodied and tasty. Bloody lovely.
Blimey mate, I think there's more than a little artistic licence been taken in the depiction of the bunkhouse.
Aaah, Rich, not being a bunk house choir boy I have not the slightest idea of what you’re insinuating! But that could explain why some of them were reluctant to straddle the saddle for the ride outs! Note the tub of lube in the bottom right corner, obviously the catering pack shoild have been purchased!
Chateuneuf du pape 2015 Linkwood 15y Lovely!!! Merry Christmas Dudes n dudettes! Eek... last of the Linkwood, Laphroaig select next
Today, ladies and gentlemen, I have been a cocktail shaker but I just can’t remember the reshippee.......
It’s not cheap, but it’s smooth, tasty with no dry after taste at all... quite the refined red, if that’s not too pretentious...
Thanks to Santa, I've added a bottle of Gordons Sloe Gin, Lambs Navy Rum, Bacardi Braveheart, JJ Whiteley Violet Gin (thought it was a bottle of meths ) and a pack of 4 Gin cocktail mixers, to my festive drinks assortment. Its confirmed, I am a alcoholic!
Just opened a bottle of Christmas present :- As it says on the label, smoky with a spicy edge and a little sweetness. Not as smooth as I would like but it's growing on me. Think I'll have a few more before I retire to my pit.
I remember propping up the bar in the Dunvegan Hotel on Skye in 1976 and working my way along the Talisker shelf with a mate who was later to be my best man. They had a selection of maybe ten or a dozen malts from the nearby distillery (at Carbost) not generally available to the public. I distinctly remember that as they got more aged or alcoholic they got smoother and smoother (or maybe I was more and more anaesthetised). At the extreme right hand end was a bottle marked 105 degrees proof. Well you have to, don’t you? It crept up on you. A very light smokiness, seaweed, pepper, pears? I really could not reproduce any poncey tasting notes and tell you more because my abiding memory is of nothing for about 5 seconds then bright blue flames exiting my ears. Steve seemed to be similarly afflicted. I just know we near instantaneously sparked out in the camper van outside and woke late to the rich aroma of slop tray, sweat feet and with a thick fur tongue. Talisker is very pretty but a bit of hike and there is absolutely no distillery. Carbost? A fairly unremarkable spot on the edge of a recessed sea Loch that dries out to mud, shingle and seaweed. The power of marketing! You should see the queues of trucks shipping malting barley onto Islay to meet Laphroaig, Bowmore, Bruiladdich, Lagavulin, Finlaggan etc., production and next door onto Jura... I am willing to bet some comes from Northumberland! Anyway, the 10 yr Old was the starting point on the left! I really must go back......
