I think I’ll be trying a couple of glasses of this tonight… I’ve got some Pepsi Max on standby in case it’s a little aggressive! https://drinksint.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/9903/The_Macallan_launches_81-year-old_single_malt.html
I still haven't purchased a bottle of that Kraken spiced black rum that @DCS900 used for a creative rendition of an Old Fashioned. But his creativity inspired me to try something a bit different for an Old Fashioned this evening. I made this with my typical recipe but instead of rye or bourbon I used a mesquite smoked single malt whiskey distilled right here in Tucson--Whiskey Del Bac Dorado. It just might be my new favorite. The smokiness quite compliments the sweetness of the sugar cube and cherry and it all creates a complexity that I really like.
Not tonight because it's all gone but Saturday night just gone, a five litre can of Okell's bitter. You piss heads that have been to the Isle of Man will know all about the delights of this cask ale. While tin ale is just not the same, it did help to wash down a belting Chicken Jalfrezi with Pilau rice and a chapati.
I'm feeling quite under the weather since late Sunday afternoon so decided I'd give a Hot Toddy a try this evening. I didn't take a photo because it was in a mug so nothing much to see. But I did like this recipe that I found online. And I did feel better as I drank the toddy and for awhile afterwards, too. 2 ounces of bourbon 1 and 1/2 Tablespoon of honey 2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice a few pieces of ginger 1 cup of water just off the boil I tested for Covid yesterday and it was negative. I'll do another tomorrow morning. These days who knows what "the crud" is. But I sure don't want to drag anything into the elementary school where I work.
Another day of "the crud". Another Covid test (negative!). Another steaming Hot Toddy to soothe my symptoms--and my soul. And a little Jack Reacher never hurt a girl, either.
Well, it’s scran time and the miserable weather put me in mind of a g’t omelette toastie and a proper mug o’ tea whilst enjoying my latest read “The Dive”…an account of the deepest submarine rescue; made more interesting as I know a few of the involved.
I rather like Bullet @Happy Jack … but tonight my lad made me a rum old fashioned with his birthday present. good lad
Nearly finished my winter project, an oak framed garage and conservatory. So we managed to get the log burner fitted in the conservatory today so that meant it was time to christen it… Home made Sloe gin with Whole Earth lemonade … Delicious…
It’s a Contura C800. Fantastic bit of kit… Bit of a brainache this morning. I think we lit at around 6.30pm and we were still drinking and enjoying the stove at 11.00pm. Thankfully we moved onto white wine after finishing the Sloe and BlackBerry Gin….
My lad has been over from Chamonix in France. Where he has a brewery (Big Mountain Brewing) to do a few collaboration brews with some breweries around Manchester and just into North Wales. These are some of the beers he left me when he returned home. Not too keen on the larger, but then I’m not a fan of larger. The others are very good, particularly the Good Morning Captain at 8.5%.
