I go alcohol-free for Lent every year as a reboot of sorts. I highly recommend it for clarity purposes.

One of the tricks I was taught to reading Burns is to read it out loud… it starts to become clearer (I find). Just don’t let a Scott hear you as as they’ll think you’re taking the piss, you can’t help sliding into the accent.
    Try it, let’s us know?

Well they’re both bloody gorgeous and I realise that is the most unscientific appraisal of whisky you will ever read. :p The Mac12 is definitely more of a spicy malt and the Bunnahabhain (I don’t even know how to pronounce that:confused:) is a bit smoother. I tend to take my whisky with water, about 70/30, sometimes 60/40 depending on what I’m drinking but I really should experiment a bit more because we went on a distillery tour, well several actually, a few years ago and tried the same whisky with water and then over ice and there was a definite difference in taste. Might just have to try that tonight. ;)

Some words, like 'birkie' and 'coof' are no longer in use, but you can tell from the context what he means. 'Bear the gree' is no longer used either, but it means 'take first place'.

I did say a couple of beers didn’t I? One of my go to favourites… Hacker Pschorr - Münchner Gold… flavour for miles… if you’re only having a couple, make them top drawer!

Not much beats a beer with pizza in my book. I chose this IPA with a nod to my UK friends. ;):) The pizza is arugula, prosciutto, and tomato on a gluten-free crust. I don't give a hoot about gluten but I like this particular crust for its taste and crispy deliciousness. :yum

Well, I had my first drink since New Years Day. It was a "Job Well Done Beer"

We got a foot of snow overnight and throughout today.

I deserved it! (The beer - not the snow)

I tried a new IPA that I've not had before this evening. Quite good and I'd definitely buy it again.

Hmmm, good enough for a 2nd go, @DCS900? I may need to give that a try. What's your mix?

Muddled cherry and orange flesh with brown sugar cube
About 6 shakes of orange bitters
Big chunk of ice (cracked if you’re a Wisconsin type)
And exactly a glug of Kraken black spiced rum
Throw in an orange slice (on a stick with another cherry if you’re a Wisconsin type)
    Swizzle (not shaken or stirred)

Serve down your neck, try not to spill out of your smile!

Well, I'd make myself one of @DCS900's Spiced Black Rum Old Fashioned...if I had the Kraken rum. I went by our local mom & pop liquor store, Plaza Liquor, for a few supplies but feckin' forgot the Kraken! :pensive: Next time. I did, however, remember to pick up a bottle of rye, along with replenishing my Hendrick's Orbium gin. This time it was a new rye--Restoration. I tried it out in an Old Fashioned this evening. Delicious! :yum
