We’ll, thank goodness for that brandy, a@DanielB! Hopefully it overwhelmed the taste of that nasty multiple vitamin with cider vinegar.
This evening I had a delicious IPA from Deschutes Brewery, a place in Bend, Oregon whose beers I typically enjoy. It was excellent and I would definitely purchase it again… and again… and again. Plus I love the name. Perhaps the label should have a picture of Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper.
Apparently it is good for me and will boost my immune system. Not sure what the multivitamins and vinegar is for though...
Not sure Sandi but I think it's a supply problem. Thing is the supermarkets here don't dedicate so much shelf space to Brandy as they do to Gin. Now if I wanted Gin I could get any colour and any flavour and have a choice of brand. I do like gin but it's a decent brandy I'm after.
Managed to get a bottle today:- https://groceries.morrisons.com/products/remy-martin-vsop-cognac-fine-champagne-217556011 Not tasted it yet but I'm hopeful. There were only two bottles of this left on the shelf, it was discounted though.
Glad you managed to get a bottle, @andypandy! Looks like it's pretty good stuff, too. As there were only two bottles left AND they were discounted, perhaps it would have been prudent to snap up both of them.
Thanks to @Fork Lock and @DCS900 I've been on a bit of an Old Fashioned kick lately. Been trying them with different bourbons and ryes and holding the rest of the variables constant. For this one I used Knob Creek bourbon. Not my favorite so far but pretty darned delicious.
Tonight it will be the grand opening of this little beauty which I received for my birthday on Tuesday. Some of you may remember back in October I was hoping I’d get one of these for Christmas after mentioning that it was one of the few single malts I’d not yet tried well it arrived early.
I'm continuing on the Old Fashioned kick. Last night I met an old friend to catch up over a drink and a bite on a lovely patio just around the corner. It's a place where I typically order a Hendrick's martini but this time I went with their special Old Fashioned. It was delicious! And the scent was heavenly, too. I asked our server how they smoke the glass. She said that they ignite the rosemary to char it and while it's burning it's placed on a cutting board then covered with the glass until the flame goes out. So I guess that, unlike the menu description, the glass is actually rosemary smoked and not "cedar smoked". This photo shows how the cocktail comes to the table. Our server said that most people do a bit of a "swizzle" with the rosemary then set it aside which is what I did. I'm definitely going to try this at home! One of our neighbors just happens to have a lovely rosemary bush in his front yard. And I have all the other ingredients on hand.
