Unfortunate evening. My day to day beer mug slipped out of the hand and broke on the stone floor. Had this cup since 2006, when I acquired it in Saarbrücken on business. It was in a delightful hotel that had a house beer. My group had two blokes from the West Midlands who told the waiter to bring another round whenever any mug was dry. To my surprise, after dinner and copious qualities of German lager, they promptly got up and announced they were going "out" and anyone would like to come along? When I stood up, I felt like I was in a hurricane, and politely demurred. They sallied forth and showed up the next day for early breakfast as chipper as can be, full of interesting stories. Memories, now broken on the kitchen floor. The sun rises and the sun sets; then it presses on to the place where it rises. Ecclesiastes 1:5
Bad luck for your Dad, but the memories aren't lost they will always live with you. Keep smiling and stay lucky
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but your older. Pink Floyd.
Mr. Sandi took me 'round to our favorite local steakhouse for my birthday last night. The place has a great patio with a big fireplace. He'd made reservations a few weeks ago and asked specifically if we could be seated outdoors by the fire. Not only did we have the best (outdoor) seat in the house, we were the only two patrons sitting outdoors! So it turns out we had out own private dining area. They are seating indoors (reduced 50% capacity per Arizona guidelines), but we won't be dining indoors anytime soon. We are lucky to live where it doesn't get that cold so we bundled up and enjoyed a delightful birthday celebration dinner. On to the "What you drinking part".... Not one but TWO Hendrick's martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives. It has been that kind of year. Mr. Sandi stuck iwith one martini since he was the designated driver. I love that man. Our table by the fire The rest of the patio I prefer gin martinis. Hendricks is one of my faves for martinis and most restaurants around here have it on the shelf these days. Mr. Sandi goes for vodka and generally goes with Stoli.
Happy birthday @Sandi T. I wasn’t gonna have a drink before Santa gets here but your birthday is a good enough excuse oh yeah I’m having a Dilligaf’s special house poured Jack Daniels
Happy birthday @Sandi T. too!!!! As a birthday gift, please send the uk a pic of the sun as we're not too sure its still about!? Permanent clouds!!!
I won't be getting a photo of the sun on this day, @Ducatitotriumph. It has been one of our rare days where the skies are completely overcast and all seems rather gray. I'll aim in the next few days to get a good pic posted to get you some vicarious sun!
To give me "energy" while wrapping Mr. Sandi's Christmas gifts and goodies , I'm currently imbibing a glass of holiday eggnog spiked with bourbon and sprinkled with freshly grated nutmeg. Yes, I'm just now wrapping his presents at 4pm on Christmas Eve.
Happy Birthday @Sandi T. and @Jesus.. here’s a Christmas cocktail raised in your honour... Bramble Gin, Aperol and Prosecco over ice... cheers big ears
