Commute again today; very uneventful compared to yesterday's shenanigans .

 

I escorted the mrs. to work this morning for her to get some motorway experience. Then I picked her up again this afternoon and took a scenic route home.

 

No more "Hitchcock" scenes then?

 

Thankfully not, if I hadn't been working on my own for the latter part of yesterday I would be wondering whether a colleague had put anything in my coffee before I rode home .

 

I needed some new gloves, so took it to a bikeshop. Got some nice Dane goretex gloves, and a pair of new earplugs.

We were up at the Ponderosa yesterday. It was very quiet up there.

I used to be a regular at the Ponderosa, but since the 40 zone was introduced I have not been. Problem is you are restricted to 40 all the way from Llangollen to the Ponderosa and 50 all the way back to Chester. Waste of time for me.

 

I had settled on fitting a Powerbronze fly screen to my 2021 Street Triple R as it’s a tad taller than the Triumph one because the nacelle of the bike looks unfinished. Either will set you back circa £100. One of my sons told me that he had ordered a screen for me, make unknown.

Today we fitted it and it does the job.



Whilst not a proprietary make, at £19 you can’t grumble can you. This is the black one but you can also get clear and light smoke. Height on the centre line from the nacelle is 95mm.

It's brilliant to hear of someone with a real dream being so committed to achieving it .

 

Basically the road out of Llangollen was a 60 zone and this made it a good ride, even staying within the limit. The reduction for the complete ride to the ponderosa at 40 just seems unusual and unnecessary to me. I never seen any fixed cameras, but I’m sure the mobile van or police with radar guns will be all over it. Once you pass the ponderosa to cross the moors there are fixed 50 zone average speed cameras most of the way back to Chester. Like @RevPaul I don’t ride in excess of the speed limits and can enjoy a potter around, but not for long stretches. There are many other roads around that you can enjoy riding at the national speed limits. Although these are becoming increasingly rare.
It feels to me that riding a motorbike is being restricted and persecuted as more and more speed limits are introduced on stretches of open roads away from urban areas. Rant over.

Top marks to this young lady in having the tenacity to pursue her dreams. But it looks as though you have to allow the potential employers to well and truly exploit your dreams of working in the industry before you can get a foot on the ladder. Absolutely disgraceful.

 

I had a run out on the Thruxton today. Enjoyed it so much didn't stop for a couple of hours. Brilliant.

 

Finished work (working from home) at 1300hrs today so just had a quick ride out to Shobdon Airfield, had a coffee and came back. Only about 42 miles but still nice to get out .

 

Dalavich Village Shop, Wild Rowan Cafe & Post Office it's all three things
