Put a new tube in the rear tyre on the Scrambler, plus a shot of this stuff which is supposed to be pretty good at sealing small punctures. Unfortunately I got the flat in the outside lane on the entry to a busy roundabout which meant I had to ride it around 50-60 yards or so to get into a safe position and pull over which didn't do the tube any favours.
Found secondary wiring problem .. great, can go to speedway to watch NZ short track sidecar championship Amazing how in that 1/4 second how the parts price list sears through the brain ! Made it to the speedway ( the long way, just to clear any carbon build up of course) .. aaaah. Son would have made the final but for tearing a tyre off the rim, he reckons another 20 horse after the injection clean out .. haha. Anyway, got home freezing ... missus says " Didn't you have the hand-warmers on ?" Well, what do you expect when the problems are finally repaired at 3:00am ? Of course one will forget that they are actually there !! " Note to self ......... "
Probably not a bad idea for tubes if it works, but after I retired I worked part time on the spanners and when we got bikes in with tubeless that had this stuff or Goop in it, we charged 1/2 hours labour extra because it took that long to clean the wheel up before we could put a new tyre on, it's a real bloody nightmare to remove from the inside of the wheel, and you really do have to clean it off to get a good seal, worth remembering if you don't change your own tyres and also if you do.
I wouldn't use it in a tubeless tyre as modern tubeless plug repair kits are far more effective. I used some sealant (can't remember the name) in a Capri tyre years ago and not only did it fail to plug the leak, the tyre repair shop said they wished I hadn't for the reason you mention. Not so bad when it's in a tube of course as long as it stays in there!
I've carried a plug kit for years, mushrooms not the worm type, only ever done mates bikes and amusingly my landcruiser once.
I also carry a plug kit when out on the ZZR, plus a small 12 v compressor, in case the gas cartridge inflator doesn't hack it. Everything fits in a small tail pack. I also have a Land Cruiser, which I've owned 17 years and dare I say, I've never had a flat that necessitated a roadside wheel change. If the Scrambler had tubeless tyres I'd have got home no problem as the air loss past the screw was tiny compared to that past the spokes and valve hole in the rim.
Not today but Sunday, had a run up the north east with some folk from a Facebook group, i didn't take any pics but these ones were online car park on the Back Rd to St Cyrus (near Montrose) A couple of pics in Fettercairn
I had a go at the "super glue and bicarb" trick, to fix plastics....this is the repaired "tag" on my Triple... bloody amazing!
fantastic spin, the National park sign is half a mile from my front door in Brynamman, over The Black Mountain Pass and down into the Towy Valley where I'm moving next. Just one more ride tomorrow with Mrs W and then Friday morning 8.30 I'm "under the knife".
Removed the Motone Saturns and refitted the stock silencers to give my ears a rest. Probably won’t go back on.
Thanks @Wessa Mrs W is spoiling me rotten, no visitors so 3 days will be the longest time we've ever spent apart, I'm sure she'll enjoy the rest
Not exactly today, but pictures taken over the last week. Things have been really busy and getting a longer ride in has been a somewhat difficult. But hey, the season is only getting started. I had a lot of rehearsals for some shows I’m playing in a couple of weeks and when there was the opportunity to leave my gear behind for a few days, I took the chance to ride to rehearsals on the bike with two hands! Picture taken at a local winery on one of the trips.
Its been a while since posting in here but as of today, I am a Triumph owner again! Got the phone call this morning, bikes ready to lift so promptly left work and collected my new street triple. Rode straight home to fit some accessories. Bike stripped down a bit to wire in some heated grips and a cable for the sat nav along with a radiator guard and tank pad. Job done and off for a bit of a blast up over the mountian and round a bit of the Antrim coast. First 100 miles ticked off with a grin, tyres well scrubbed in, rev limits not adhered to I think a trip to Donegal is on the cards tomorrow! I have to get the first service done before a Scotland trip in a week and a halfs time
Lifted crashed Sprint frame out of the way last night ... writing this in comfy chair with wheatpack on back !! Jeeezus Christ ... probably wasting 10 horse just to pull the suspension. (and mufflers .. and ..etc)
