You could make your life a little less confusing by replacing your non-Triumphs with Triumphs. Perhaps start by replacing the Harley with that Speedmaster you liked
Not actually today, but yesterday….. Put repaired exhaust manifold and associated parts back on the Explorer. Busy day also with running, dog walking, watching BSB so no time to take it for a test ride, look to getting out on it again.
I went out for a ride on Tigger with a friend and their Tiger Sport 1050. We came across a capsized BMW GS We helped the nice gentleman (in matching BMW Twat suit) lift it back upright. He’d been caught out by the (obvious) camber of the lane he’d turned in. Thankfully there was no significant damage with the engine bars protecting sensitive stuff, but it does now need a new front brake lever. I had to laugh as he had a sticker saying “off road skills” on his petrol tank… Best remove that me thinks…
Bring my daughters boyfriend on the Triumph. As he never been on a bike, I arranged us to be framed by a radar as souvenir. Too bad we'll never see the picture, as the radar took us from the front.
Weather cleared up yesterday so took a ride out to a classic car and bike meet at the local pub (The Bell Inn , Aldworth. CAMRA National pub of the year twice now) Good turnout for this late in the year and dodgy weather. Always a wide range of vehicles, this time even a couple of scale model steam engines and they were steamed up and running.
A friend (yes I do have one @Dave49) has several full sized ones and two or three super mini ones but none (that I am aware of) in that half/third/quarter scale. I bet he’ll be jealous when I send the photo. Thanks. Always nice to wind him up. CB
Nice one @Cyborgbot . I didn't get the opportunity to chat directly with the owners but got the impression they may have also had the full size originals.
Taking @Mrs Visor Street Triple to Stratford Triumph for it's first service while she is doing her Mod 1 test. Anyone fancy taking a guess as to what my loan bike is going to be? Answers revealed later in the day
I can't guess, @Helmut Visor, but I'm certainly curious and will be watching for your answer. Best of luck to Mrs Visor on her Mod 1 test!
day before yestrday. solved a lean running stumble on my 1972 T120. i use a colortune see-through spark plug for solving mixture problems: yellow is rich: blue is lean: discovered two loose manifold bolts on the right. tightened em up, problem solved. so then i went riding.
Colourtune, that's a trip down memory lane! I remember using one on my first car back in '78.Still a great way of tuning older engines without all the without all the computer controlled crap of modern stuff.
With the weather forecast for the week being poor I thought I may as well start the 10k service on the Street Scribbler, albeit a few hundred miles short of the service indicator. All but two of the valves are on the tight side and need re-shimming with one inlet having no measurable gap. I had some shims left over from the ZZR with two of the size I needed but had to order the rest. The valve adjustment is the lengthy bit of the service but still very easy and accessible, the ZZR is a nightmare by comparison.
A Honda NC750X A little disappointed but it did what was needed. It is never going to set the world on fire but it's a Honda so it was reliable but bland and no real pickup. In terms of riding I found it quite uncomfortable, it felt like it was pushing my hips forward all the time driving my undercrackers into my backside (you get the picture) and was quite sore on the back of my legs where they meet your bum, it also started to make my right shoulder ache. To be honest it was about 60 miles from door to door each way and I was quite happy to get off at each end. I also found it was quite noisy in terms of wind and helmet noise. My disappointment comes also from the fact that my thinking is that a loan bike is an ideal opportunity to give people a different model to make them think about change or options (was hoping for a Tiger or Bobber ) not so much a different manufacturer. Anyway, all done now and back with a filthy Striple complete with bar end mirrors and heated grips that @Mrs Visor can clean tomorrow
