Fitted the grab rail today and all went well! I know its a simple job but I'm the sort of guy that cleans a spark plug and drops it down the drain 2 mins after the shop has shut on a Saturday and I've got a big ride-out on the sunday! Anyway the dillemma is which looks best??

I prefer the Thruxton without the seat cowl so picture 2 would be my choice. Have you tried it with the original seat/no cowl?

Yeah, but I'm not that enamoured by the seat without the cowl, I like the cowl or the dual seat!

Hi Crispey, it's the second picture for me the one with the cowl - I think the bike looks just gorgeous like that.

Took the front wheel out today, stripped off the disc to be able to get at the spokes better. Cleaned and re-greased the wheel bearings and put it all back together with torque settings and nail varnish.

I've spent the last couple of days getting the Explorer ready to return it to my Pal Gavin. He is returning home from the USA this Saturday. He won't be fit to ride for another month or so, but he wants the bike back at home. I will miss it.

More incentive now to get my own Explorer. I've still got the bike for another week or so, but Gavin is determined to get back on the bike asap. I can't blame him.

Another cold and wet day, so more tinkering in the garage. Removed the SAI that tidied things up and stopped the
exhaust pops. Also fitted new spark plugs (had to be NGK having worked for them for over 20 years before I retired)
Weather looks set to improve over the weekend, lets hope we can all get a ride out !!!

Hi La Roca, I'm in the middle of preparing my bike for the riding season, but I can't seem to find a correctly-sized socket for the spark plugs - what did you use, please?

Hi biglad. I used a 12mm plug socket, this however relates to the thread size. If you have an 18mm tube socket
that should do the job. Hope this is of help and not confusion ?

Thanks very much for that. I'm a bit confused because I tried 10,12 & 13 mm plug spanner and couldn't get any to fit. The 10mm was just too small, the larger ones seemed to jam in the restricted space around the plug ????

Weather was pretty good today so had a run out to Norwich to pick up some kit. Sunshine all the way, dry roads and no nutters about. Great fun.

A 12mm plug socket should fit if it is a thin wall type.
