Was in the garage today so I thought I’d start my TWAT up I left it running until the fan kicked in and off two times Had the door open to let the fumes out and at first there was a lot of condensation coming out of the exhaust This soon cleared though and the exhaust was as clear as it should be It’s on my new paddock stand at the moment so I ran it up and down the gearbox a few times Was expecting it to clunk through the gears but it was as smooth as something smoothy Can’t wait to be able to ride the feckin thing
Funnily enough I’ve got a mate round the corner who I am thinking of asking if he’ll take it out for me Depends on how much longer it takes before I can ride it he can scrub the panicky’s in for me and see if I’ve overhauled the brakes properly
The Speed gear box is fantastic especially after 100 miles when the whole engine is hot and she just slips.
Booked speedy in for a valve check this Saturday. At 45.000 km she's 5000 overdue, but hey ho, my trip to France got in the way. I opted for a local chap as opposed to the dealer, so as to support local business. If the weather's crappy on Saturday he offered to collect her here, free of charge!
Trip back over to Matarangi for brunch. Remembered to take the pic before eating it all. Nice coffee and lamingtons, after pie.
I hope you can enjoy the pix without too much withdrawals. I was very jealous looking at your last dive trip, as COVID-19 spoilt one I had planned earlier this year. I still find I can get enjoyment sharing the “forum trips”
Yes, I definitely can still enjoy the photos, @Dartplayer! But I sure do miss not only the sight of the ocean, but also the sound and the smell and the feel of it. We also missed a scheduled dive trip this past year. We'd planned to dive Cozumel in March 2020 but cancelled because of my bicycle accident. COVID hit very shortly after our cancellation so we'd have had to cancel the trip anyway. We're hoping to get back in the ocean at some point in 2021 but most likely it won't be until much later in the year. Please keep posting those ocean photos! I definitely get enjoyment sharing vicariously in others "forum trips", too.
Bloody ell. I've been in the garage freezin me nuts off trying to get a back mudguard on. It was so cold I even polished up a couple of petrol caps just to warm up. All done now tho and very shiney.
The weather today was beautiful with blue sunny skies, light winds, and the high temperature around 60ºF. Mr. Sandi on his Street Glide and I on my Speed Triple met up with our friend on his BMW R1100S. We rendezvoused at our local QT gas station at high noon when it had warmed up. We're not on lockdown but COVID conditions in Arizona are currently quite bad. So lately Mr. Sandi and I are still doing some riding but we've been riding only with each other or with one or two others and we choose our routes carefully. Today we rode to the north of Tucson through the small towns of Catalina, Oracle, and Mammoth to our turnaround point, Apache Sky Casino. Once you get out of Tucson, AZ State Route 77 has very little traffic and expansive views. Our round trip mileage including the road into the casino was 115. Today's ride was simple, lovely, and mind-clearing. And today, like nearly every time I ride my Speed Triple I found myself thinking, "I love this bike!" There are a number of casinos operated by various tribes in Arizona. Apache Sky Casino is operated by, yep, the Apache tribe, specifically the San Carlos Apaches. The entry road to get to the casino is long, winding, and fairly majestic. The casino building itself is not majestic. It physically is composed of probably about five modular-type trailers arranged side by side. We've not been inside but have read that the gaming that is offered is primarily slot machines and some poker tables. And the casino is located way out in the middle of nowhere. It's five miles to the south of a little town called Dudleyville, population 959. The next closest towns are Winkleman (10 miles) and Mammoth (13 miles). From AZ State Road 77, if you didn't see the sign just before the turnoff to the two lane road that leads up to the casino, you wouldn't even know it's there. The sign in this next photo isn't visible from 77 -- you only see it when you are quite near to the casino itself. You definitely have to know where the casino is and be heading there on purpose! We stopped just briefly in the main parking lot to stretch and chat a bit and to make a few clothing "adjustments". Things were looking pretty darned quiet today. I don't know about Apache Sky, but the two big casinos in the Tucson area--Casino del Sol and Desert Diamond Casino--were both closed during the lockdown in our early COVID times and stayed closed for some time after the lockdown orders were expired. I believe that both of those casinos are now open again and Apache Sky clearly was also. Open but slow....... Looking to the west from the parking lot with the casino behind us A great day out and about on Speedy. Much better than a therapist. Hooray, Triumph!
Another great set of pictures @Sandi T. . You are so lucky to be able to get out and ride. It is likely to be a couple of months before we in the UK are likely to get out and about in reasonable weather. Thanks for cheering me up on a very cold, damp and foggy morning ....
