Had a run out today, went to Northallerton, then onto Patley Bridge, from there onto Leyburn via Grassington then home covered 170 miles , knackered now, will be all aches and pains tomorrow. (the joys of being an old git).
I know how you feel and I only did around 130 miles today. Worryingly, I started feeling unwell a few miles out from home. I guess I've found my limit today. Or maybe I'm just out of practice. Could even be summat I ate. Okay now though, give or take a few achey bits!
First decent rideout for the Tiger today, Winchester to Yarm for a bit of a North Yorkshire tour. Stopped off at Cravens motorcycle museum near York. (Some of you will have seen this place if you watch Henry Cole's programs). Well worth a visit.
Bugger me! Nearly went there myself today! Certainly wasn't far away, but wasn't sure if it was open, given the current circumstances. Ho hum! Fascinating spot there and well worth the effort.
I had a new rear suspension unit fitted to my trophy as the old one was showing it's age when 2-up with luggage. The new unit has an issue with the remote adjuster which doesn't work below 3. It's a great unit one up, so today I went out with the other half on the back for some testing. It was a fun ride around bumpy back lanes to really test the suspension as I have an option to change it out for £100. I've been looking longingly at other bikes, you know how it goes, you read reviews of your own bike and then compare it to other reviews and think how much better the others would be. Well I have to say if there is a better bike for me out there for the sort of riding I do it must be a stunning ride because I struggled to find anything wrong with mine.... I suppose it doesn't return very good mpg and err umm.... Even 75mph is fine with visor up on a still day, it tracks wonderfully, brakes well, handles the bumps very well..... but it is 18 years old and new bikes must be better eh? Stopped off for a little break and took a few photos with my phone, not a particularly decent phone camera
It certainly is, there are some real gems in there. Best to check opening times on his Facebook page - you can message Dick and he will get back to you.
I had a 955i sprint as a loan bike many year ago and was very impressed, the seat seamed hard initially but was comfy for the hour or so I was out on it. What I really liked was the immediacy of the throttle response coming out of corners (fuel injection being new fangled tech that I've never had on a bike) another excellent engine from triumph.
The thought had crossed my mind.... Now just got to whittle the list down for some test rides. List is big, KTM Duke 390, Duke 790, BMW R1200R, R1200GS, R1200RS, Tiger 800, Street twin, street triple, sprint ST 1050, sprint GT 1050, Bonnie America, 1200 daytona, Royal enfield interceptor 650, GT 650, Yamaha MT-07, tracer 700, Suzuki SV-650, V-strom 1000.... Um... I think I don't really know what I want and why I want one...
Just used Tigertool V3.0 to check bike over to complete the physical service carried out a couple of days ago. Thread in 'Technical Help' if anyone interested (not sure why i put it there - oh well).
Took my wheels in for new tyres, cleaned the brake calipers and pads front and rear, cleaned the chain and all the various guards around it, replaced the swingarm chain rubbing strip, removed all the gunge around the front sprocket and engine casings. Just waiting for the call that my new tyres are fitted. Arkward moment when I removed the rubbing strip and found that it wouldn't come out because of the rear paddock stand.................Got the wife to help, I tipped the bike to the right and she swiftly got the old one out and the new one in.
I normally don't care for the looks of a white bike, but that one pulls it off very nicely. I guess it's the shape? I dunno, but it looks great.
Yes, similar though it is diagnostic only.......no remapping. Developed specifically for the Tiger but can work for other Triumphs.
Nice 100 mile circuit heading down to Uppingham via Melton, then across to Market Harborough and then back via Melton again. With a cuppa break in the middle, that's about the max for me with that riding position. All very, very nice DS
