Looking good Duck, not only will you have a bike to your taste but you have acquired a multitude of new skills, nice job mate.
Today I have been treating my speedmaster to Dielectric grease, I have cleaned and smeared all the electrics to clean out any corrosion and prevent future issues.
Every time I get bike out the bar end finishers get scratched squeezing it down side of the house. They've also suffered in other, ahem, 'incidents'; so today I replaced them. Triumph want £17.50 (each!) for the soft aluminium items so I went for the stainless steel bar end weights from Square Deals (£9.99 a pair ). Considering my space constraints, I could do without the added width they give to the handlebars, but I guess that gives me extra material for wear
Popped out for a couple of hours to build up some running-in miles. Painted the rear of my clear fly screen with Plasti Dip, pleased with the outcome, changed the giant luggage rack to a standard grab rail and removed pillion pegs. Fitted bar end mirrors, machined headlamp bezel, bought a tail tidy, waiting for smaller indicators and a de-cat, and I said I wasn’t going to mess with my new bike, doh
That Plasti Dip is good stuff, got half a can left, the dog'd shitting himself, always fancied an all black Springer Spaniel, here boy..
Recon you need to start by building me a 500mm round turntable. Good news is I wont charge you for the project. I’m all heart me
Not what I’ve done but thinking of doing, so asking what some of you lot think. If you had a bike you knew you weren’t getting rid of would you do irreversible mods. Reason I ask is that I’m thinking of removing the pillion peg supports from the frame to tidy up a bit. Cut them away, smooth the area down and do a discreet touch up of the paint. Never have a rider, if I ever get another bike I’ll keep this one, and it will continue the journey of making my bike mine. What thinks you?
Once it has been done there is no going back. However if you intend on keeping the bike, why not just do it.
I wanted a Triumph cafe bike since I was a kid. In the Eighties when my pals had posters of Lambos and Ferrari’s on the wall I had a classic ‘Bonnie. I may add another bike to the garage (looking at Tigers) but this ones found its forever home. Just hard to decide to cross that line and take a knife to it.
I think you had already made up your mind and were looking for confirmation on your decision. Which tiger do you fancy? I have the tiger sport and it is a cracking ride....
