Rear brake oil was long overdue for a change so took the opportunity for an upgrade Fitted the new Hel rear brake hose today onto my 2010 Speed Triple Went nice n smooth Plenty of paper rag, cloths and all the tools I needed When the new hose was attached I hung the caliper from a bungee so the brake line was straight up, and undid the bolts for the master cylinder so there was no high point in the hose and all the air in the system went straight to the caliper I gave it one last bleed and the lever has no play at all, no spongines Bolted it back together...job jobbed Next on my list is to rewire the heated grips
Washed it, ACF50 and took the flyscreen off again. Its one of those months where I think it looks naff.

Actually, y'know what - maybe don't ask that question, just in case it leads to you, ultimately, losing more than a motorcycle! Rode up to Shrewsbury to catch up with some old buddies many beers down the range last night so waiting for a clear head to ride home
Changed oil and filter, started it and the oil pressure light didn't even come on. Had a wee ride, checked the oil level, all good. Happy. Brake fluids next.
The plan was;- Wrap side panels and tank in clear Heli tape. Bolt on Givi Rack. Air filter. Oil filter and oil. Get a ride in, and set the sag. Reality went;- Air filter Givi Rack, and discover that the tail tidy, wasnt .Home electrical connector ,etc. etc. and the bracket was coming away from its powder coating. So I stripped the bracket and reconnected the indicators and number plate light. I got that nearly done and my soldering iron packed up, then, as I was checking my work, the cable came away from the numberplate light of course its a sealed unit. Off to eBay for both. I painted then the attached bracket , and attached the rack. I am pleased with the rack very solid and a good match to the Lomo Pannier bags too I wrapped the side panels. Changed the oil and filter. Ride and suspension set up will have to wait until the new light arrives. Ba
Good to get into it. It would have been nice to finish as well. I just ordered a new light ,and I still need to tidy up the connections on the loom side,what a mess on a fairly new bike, I dont know the make of the tail tidy, disappointingly crap all the same. Now its painted it should last a few more years.
Cleaned rear brake caliper and re-assembled it, a job that was made more awkward by a piston making a break for freedom - bastid! Having already removed the side panels etc., it was then just a matter of bleeding the system with new fluid. The fluid reservoir is not in a particularly good position, so I had to find a small funnel to get the fluid into it. Even then I managed to spill some of it. Feckin' clumsy fecker!! Still, all is now well with a firm brake pedal. Also checked and adjusted the rear wheel alignment and then re-checked the (new) chain tension in case it had altered. Finally I replaced the bodywork and polished to get rid of dirty fingermarks it before putting it away again. I suppose at some point I will get round to changing the coolant. Maybe next week/month or thereabouts. Just checked my records, coolant was changed 15/11/16 at 50,199 miles. Now showing 53,147 miles, so my question is .... is it worth changing at this mileage (Bluecol's ordinary blue (really! What a surprise!) stuff was used last time)? Note to self - ride more this year, yer lazy old gimmer!
Had a great ride yesterday and was out for 5 hours,superb. Had a job to get on the seafront there was so many bikes.

The guy that rides the Hayabusa bought it as a prezzie to himself on his 80th birthday. He can still be a bit of a hooligan.
Fitted the booster plug and barends. Much better at low revs and acceleration, especially around roundabouts (no more jerky moves). Surprised to check av usage at 5.2l/100km (normally 5.3l/100km) but was highway riding (hardout). I expected an uplift of 3%. Gold detailing from pinstripes to rear Brembo calliper
Just finished opening out the intake end (minus snorkel) of My Speedmaster airbox, and cut out baffle. then bottom of the DNA filter and bottom of airbox. Then fitted a 19T front sprocket, still on OE 42T rear. Took her for a 45 minute ride to check her out in anticipation of wife's first ride on a Triumph twin, scheduled for Thursday, as weather is looking good down here. She hasn't been on a pillion since the 80's before kids appeared!!
Went out on tracey today to have a look at some waterproof jackets, and parked up next to this Not to everyone’s taste but I quite like it
Got a gear change rubber and a gasket set for the water pump cover (VERY slight weep which has been annoying the hell out of me all winter - probably lost no more than a tablespoon full in total) from Sprint Manufacturing. Ordered them yesterday at around 13.30hrs and they arrived in the post this morning. Can't really fault service like that! Seems like the coolant will get changed after all. Bike will be taxed and ready to go on March 1st. Blizzards will commence March 2nd! Well, they will if last year is anything to go by - no sooner had I taxed it and the snow started.
