Spent last Friday sorting why the back brake had quit. Found that the caliper torque arm lug on the swing arm had broken and allowed the caliper mount to swing forward and the tyre to wear through the pipe!! A bodge repair, drill and tap either side of the mounting bolt and clamp it down with two 6 mm cap-heads and a steel fish-plate, eBay a pipe and back running, not pretty but effective, the bike a 93 Trophy 113,000 miles not pretty either.
well I'm home. left my hotel outside manchester at 10 am and arrive home at 17:30 no idea on the mileage today but 1200 done over my time away, not bad considering 98% was on a, b and unclassified roads and 4 riding days, enjoyed every minute of it apart from my last bit on the M25 which was jammed solid, I think I must have lost a stone through sweat, Tracey did me proud but desperately needs a service now
Mind you I'm on street triple. Paddock stand.... Cutout Cardboard behind the chain to stop over spray on tires n linkages. Few spins on the wheel to get any excess lube off it. Spray wd40 on a rag n wipe off the linkages n wheel rim) that's me being OTT)
Dropped my triumph off at the Honda dealer in Dundee this morning for the big 12000 mile service that they will do tomorrow, apparently they need it the day before so the engine is stone cold before checking the valves, my nearest triumph dealers are Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow all roughly 80 miles away, so as the bike is not under warranty it's a lot easier to drop it off in Dundee which is only 30 mins away. I didn't realize I've went over the 12000 mile mark by 2500 miles as I very rarely check my mileage. I'm not expecting them to have to do anything as the bike runs really sweet
Not surprised on a day like today, would have loved to have gone too but not home from work in time to avoid parking half a mile away
Just finished putting the fairing back on, now just got to clear the MIL lamp and MOT tomorrow. Gulp.
Booked my new Speedmaster in for its first service the day after the GMU I haven’t even seen it or sat on it yet
Removed my tow bar from my BPOS Took off the cocktail shakers and put the TORS back on Took the YSS shocks off and put the Triumph scaffolding shocks back on Removed the sissy bar Still got some work to do before it gets put in for my new Speedmaster but ENGLAND play tomorrow so will finish what’s left Friday and Saturday
Nah mate it’s staying on the BPOS I told the salesman I can’t be arsed to do the electrical stuff so all the lights I took off are going in a box and getting dropped off the day before
Went for a, ahem, "brisk" spin around Daventry down to Fenny Compton for a bite to eat. Exploder head gasket gave up on the way back - and I'm due to be racing this weekend. So I spent the day after work trying to sort stuff out for the weekend. After many thwarted plans I put plan E into place - I bought another Triumph to race at the weekend.
