Today I have mostly been riding from High Wycombe to the back of nowhere the other side of Norwich to see my folks. I won a bet in doing so - my Mum said it would be really difficult to do the journey without using a dual carriageway but thanks to the Tyre route planning interface, Google maps and my TomTom Rider job done . Took me over five hours instead of nearly three via the motorway but it was such a hoot in the sunshine with very little traffic on most of it and lots of empty twisty roads to play on. Return journey on Saturday will hopefully be as much fun as today.
Have a good weekend mate, don't forget to throw some ballast in that trailer for the journey home after you have drunk all the beer!
I bought a new Daytona today. You guys have been killing me with all of the new bikes and old bikes coming back to life. I can't help it, but I'm jealous, so I went to Walmart and picked up a new Daytona. It's really a lot bigger than it looks in the photo, because the pen is really close to the camera. The wheels spin, the front forks turn and it even has a movable kickstand! Sorry about the red color, that's why I shot it on a black background The best part is that Walmart is selling them for only $3.00 US.
Earlier this week...10 000km done. Though only on 9243km had to check the chain and decided whilst it's there let them do the service too.
Well before I broke it (see Bonneville rear brake nonsense thread) I was out around the Meon Valley on Thursday afternoon. Stopped at Loomies for a tea and spotted the "Bar Hopper" Harley parked outside. Wasn't this the one featured on Henry Coles show the night before? Evening run to the Haven bike night where I parked mine amongst some proper Triumphs. Cheeky triple cafe racer
That Harley would be a real PITA to ride if caught out in the wind and rain - no mudguards, solid wheels, number plate on an afterthought stick. Don't people get embarrassed being seen riding such things? Having said that, each to their own and vive la difference etc. Good job we're not all the same.
Since new in 2010 my Scrambler always made a howling/whistling noise that only happened while moving, & only on very cold mornings - not while stood ticking over. Over the years I came to see it as normal, & even used it as a possible "ice warning". In the last couple of years the speedo needle became very erratic, so much so that I relied on my satnav for reading speed. Then last week after winter storage I went for a long ride & it started going crazy. First the needle kept going all the way back & forth, left to right until the needle broke off, then the bit that was left went round & round - seemingly faster than the wheels - with metal dust spattering on the glass. Then the trip meter went loopy, & finally the meter for the total miles went backwards for about 10 miles until everything just stopped. That noise has now disappeared now the new speedo fitted. Looking back it should have been replaced under warranty. I mentioned it to the dealer but he couldn't explain it, although it was no use him testing it as it was a warm day - & then I just got used to it.....
It is low mileage, the reason being I was still working when I bought it (retired now), & worked away from home - sometimes for weeks at a time. I did this for years. The worst thing was having to leave it dirty cos I had to drive off in the van - which asks the question - could you do this with one of the new one's? Now I use acf-50 but for years nothing. The only bits rusty are the front mudguard brackets & a couple of throttle body top screws.
Got it! I'm a bit slow today. I would like to know though, has anyone else experienced this noise - with ghe same result?
Well as the weather was so nice today the Speed Triple and Street triple were left in the garage and we went out on our old bikes for a change. Nice just bumbling along in in the sunshine in no hurry
I got the Suzuki GS750 running today after installing the new Ignition system. The bike was always running rough on 3 then 4, then 4 and still rough. One coil was intermittent plugs weren't a set and old. The bikes only done 450 miles in 9 years. Fitted the upgrade, from points to CDI, new coils, and leads, and new plugs, and she sounds good on 4.
Went for a ride no destination in mind. Then cleaned the bike, got pretty dirty going to work and back this week (especially Wednesday, boy did that rain come down in the morning).
Just done an oil and filter change on Trixie and preparing to go out, in the currently 22° of sunshine we are currently enjoying !!!
