I guess I already know the answer to this one, but still. It would be nice if somebody was able to confirm my suspicions. When I bought my Thunderbird 900 in February last year, it came with an extra set of silencers, visually exactly like the ones on the bike. The seller said that the extra set was a pair of performance mufflers that he never bothered to install, as “the bike was loud enough as it was”. So in his words, the set on the bike was standard, the ones in the box performance. But, as the second owner he had only had the bike for less than two years before he sold it on and I suspect he didn’t really know the bike. The reason I’m in doubt whether his claim is correct, is that I can’t imagine any better sound coming out of this engine than what I already have. Starting it up is sheer music. The set on the bike has the part number ‘A9730001’. The extra set is stamped ‘2201500’. Does anybody know for certain what is what?
