So after 4 great years with my VStrom Waspy, I decided to chop him and 2 other bikes in and now have this. Suzuki GSX S1000GT. I only need one bike and saves on the insurance and road tax. Picked him up this afternoon and enjoying it so far. He’s called Bluey for obvious reasons.
Happy new bike day Nikki, very nice! Didn't think you would have parted with waspy but it makes good sense.
Just come back after 100km ride and that’s over 200km since I picked it up yesterday. I’m surprised how much I’m liking it since I bought it without ever having a test ride. The engine is a peach and if you have riding mode A which is the most aggressive, it’s a bit lively. It’s very torquey and you can bimble about in top gear at pretty low speeds without any snatchiness. Some reviewers complained about the brakes, but I find them to be absolutely fine. One thing which I do agree with them over is the screen. I’ll be changing it for a Puig touring screen as the standard one does not keep the wind away from my head and it’s very noisy even with ear plugs. The colour screen is lovely and clear and it’s great you can have integrated navigation using the Suzuki Spin app, however I wish they’d have Waze as one of the inbuilt apps as that’s my preferred navigation tool. I was starting to become less interested in bikes of late but the new bike has stimulated my enthusiasm again. For running in I’m limited to 5500 revs which is still good for 130km/hr so no hassle really.
Hi, Nikki! So, so glad that you and Bluey are getting along so well and that your enthusiasm in bikes and riding is returning! Sounds like you are very happy with the specifics of the the model you chose. Thanks for providing us with your initial thoughts about the bike. How did you decide to get a Suzuki GSX S1000GT?
@Sandi T One of the reasons for getting this bike was the mostly excellent reviews and the fact I wanted another 4 cylinder machine again. The other main reason was I wanted to trade in all the bikes I had and just have one. My Suzuki dealer who I’ve bought several bikes from over the years and who I’ve known for a long time was happy to take all three bikes in part exchange. He also gave me a good deal.
Nice looking bike Nikki, i'm sure you'll have smiles and smiles of fun and excursions on "Bluey". Ride safe.
Fantastic reasons, all, Nikki! Sometimes I do think that having one bike and one bike only would be a WHOLE lot simpler. My problem is that I don't know which of my bikes I'd keep or what I'd get if I traded all of them in on "just" one bike. Sounds like you have a great relationship with your Suzuki dealer, too, which is very helpful and important...and reassuring. Enjoy Bluey!
Happy new bike day Nikki. The bike looks great and it sounds like you are really enjoying it. Ride safe
Late again. Nice looking machine you've got there. Bet you're looking forward to summer now. Hope you have many safe kilometres on Bluey
