My goretex gloves and waterproof jacket let me down. Luckily the full Welsh breakfast I had kept me going. Just stopped for a coffee, fuel and few stops to take pictures. I was meant to head back to London Saturday morning instead I left late Friday evening. Reached home 2am. Done around 860 miles in 4 days. Regardless of the weather, I started riding around 10am until last light. So I had a great time. There was never a dull moment ;)

Did you use that Nikwax stuff? I’ve not been out in the rain since I used it so don’t know if it’s worked ok.

I am seriously thinking of making an investment in Rukka gear. It's just bloody expensive:confused:

I'm okay when the weather turns shite but when you gear lets you down......

We all need gear that's 100% waterproof. My t-shirt, base later, mobile phone inside the waterproof pocket.... completely soaked.

You don't need Rukka to stay dry.
There's loads of options for a lot less money.
    Go for Gortex laminated.

Nice trip by the way :)

I'd definitely do Wales again. My ride back home in the rain on the motorway and my waterproof gear failing is what made it a miserable journey. Luckily the gear held well whilst in Wales. I would like to do Wales again during dry season if that even exist in Wales:eek:.

    I had a great time buddy :)

You are absolutely right. I'm going to look at all options and read a lot of reviews before parting away with my dosh. As you and littleade said it will definitely needs to be goretex laminated ;)

I have good gear, but always put a cheap (10 quid) rain suit over the top, just to let the rain run off, like a shield. works a treat.
I dont care how much you spend, it wont beat two separate layers. IMO

I can recommend those too, served me well is Scotland this year. The jacket also comes in a version that's partly fluorescent yellow, which is what I went for on the principle that the extra safety from being more visible in rain outweighs style/appearance considerations.

    Cheers buddy

This sounds great. It might be the best option. At least I don't have to spend stupid money. I will give it a go;)

You only have to look at all the reviews to see how well people rate them :cool:
