They found that the head bearings were in good condition, when the front was raised up there was no notching, only under load, wheel bearings checked.

Full strip of forks and rebuild. The bike has done 600 miles in 5 years

Hi Adam, I'm a bit confused you said in a previous post "Yep bearings are shot , new rubber made it feel even worse!"? but now you're saying it's not the head bearings ?

Just I made the assumption that the tyres had squared or the bearings had gone, so as the tyres were 7 years old process of ilimination I replaced them. Still bad, so MOT and service day i asked for the head race bearings to be replaced. Upon inspection they seemed fine so further investigation they believe the forks need a good strip down new sills and washers etc and whilst they are apart replace the bearings I already purchased

Hi Adam, irrespective of what the mot guy says, I still suspect bad head bearings.

You asked earlier why the problem doesn't show at higher speed, only when doing slow manouvers. That's easy to explain - when going slow you are usually using a lot more of the steering angle; when going faster you will use only a tiny part of the steering angle.

The garage I'm using is slip stream tuning in sevenoaks currently prepping bikes for British super bikes , it has been fully investigated, his point was the bearings look fine he thinks it's the forks where it's been sitting so instead of replacing what seem to be perfect bearings do the lot and labour covers both jobs

OK mate, I wish you the very best. At least replacing the bearings as well as re-fitting the forks you've got everything covered.

    £2000 bike
    £320 tyres
    £120 service and MOT
£300 fork strip and service and bearings
£500 power commander K&n etc including dyno runs custom map test rides.

Well being as original handling concern has been addressed you are going to make it a machine that you are not going to handle the power from it:)

Much easier to ride than my zx12! Main thing is getting rid of the flat spots!

These 600 appear have problems with flat spots and seams to be related to air intake problems.
