Hello I have a 2011 Speed Triple which started having some issues with the power delivery. Up until 4000 rpm the power delivery is all over the place (snatchy throttle). When it reaches 4000 rpm it has a slight drop in power. After 4000 rpm it's everything works perfect. I had a power commander Dynojet 5 on it and i thought that there might be something wrong with it and that's whit the bike is acting weird, so i took the power commander of the bike, but still no improvements. The fuel consumption seems a bit high. I'm thinking that the fuel injectors are not working right and they are not pushing the right amount of fuel into the engine. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm going to post a pic of the bike maybe someone can tell me what's wrong with it and how to fix it just by looking at the photo. Thanks
Marius. Tell us how many miles are on the steed. It may just still be freeing up. Also check the colour of the plugs just to make sure it is getting the right fuel air mixture. And like Tricky-Dicky said check the map. Nice bike by the way. Ride Safe & Enjoy Joe.
The bike has a little over 21000 km. I'm planning on changing the air filter. You guys are talking about the map in the power commander? The power commander is no longer on the bike.
You bike should have a specific map for a low boy, two into one exhaust system. I don’t think a change of air filter will make much difference
Just an idea. Check the voltage readings on the Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT). I take it you have enough coolant? This sensor affects fuel injector openings
Marius. You say the power commander has been taken of the bike. Did you have the bike remapped after removing it. Ride Safe Joe.
It started running bad while the power commander was on it, and it runs the same now after i took it off
Have you tried the "reset" ? Start bike with the button, dont touch the throttle, leave to run for 12 mins or until the fan kicks in, this has a reset effect.
Try TuneECU software. The first thing to check is sensor error codes. Assuming all is OK you can research a more suitable map for your exhaust.
I am assuming with the power commander it basically allows you to replace or tweak the std map like the Tune ECU software...so if it was playing up when the PC was on there i would also assume that the map was adjusted...and it sounds incorrectly, so removing the PC has left the bad map so the ECU will need a new or std map reapplied before it will run correctly again.
A power commander is just a way to increase /decrease fueling at specific revs by lying to the ECU. As I understand it.
First will change the spark plugs. From what i understood bad spark plugs can affect the way the bike runs.If they don't spark at the right time.. Yesterday i did a 100 km ride to see how much fuel it takes. at an average of 4000 rpm it took 5.8 liters. If i get more aggressive with the throttle i guess that would go up to about 8-9 liters. Are power commanders specific to each bike model? I'm thinking about selling mine and i want to know how to list it. At first i thought they are universal.
That's about 58miles per gallon...so not terrible, new plugs wont do much unless the old ones are in a real state IE badly worn electrodes, i would just remove them give them a clean and check the gaps.
Power commander of the bike and new spark plugs...the bike seems to be running better. It still has a slight drop in power at 4000rpm but it's not that bad.You only feel it if you accelerate slow. If you twist the throttle harder you don't even notice it.
