Hi folks. I am trying to get my 2000 Daytona 955i back on the road. The bike was my father's and due to illness he stopped riding it about 10 years ago. I've put a new battery on it, changed the spark plugs and the air filter and when I can get it started I will change the oil and oil filter. The bike has done about 25,000 miles.

I have drained the old petrol, which stunk, and put fresh in. The bike cranks over but doesn't start. When the ignition is on there is an amber warning light, which looks like an engine, is this normal?

The bike has a data tool alarm on it which is making all of the right chirping noises. If the alarm was faulty would the bike still crank over?

Any ideas on what to check?

Whoops looks like I've posted in the wrong section. Sorry Mods:)
