So as you know, what with me having two modern classic Triumphs, and my usual avatar being a 1958 Dommie, I'm a classic bike man. Well I couldn't believe my luck today. I just happened to pop in to Grafton Honda in Milton Keynes with mate Paul today to get out of the p!$$!ng rain and grab a free cup of coffee (well, you do don't you) when this barn-find classic Honda was wheeled in. Being the only customers (potentially) in the shop, and me being quickest off the mark, I got first dibs on it. Only 811 miles on the clock. Not been ridden for at least 31 years, but the sadly-deceased former owner's family say probably 35 years. A true classic as-new Honda. Just too good to miss. Photos below. Okay, admittedly it needs a bit of a wash and a touch up here and there, but almost pristine. Best of all, with me being a short-arse, it's a perfect fit. Think I'm gonna trade in my Triumphs for this little beaut. Waddya think? (ps the bike's model name means the speedo is probably a little on the pessimistic side).

The speedo goes up to 35mph, so I know you and Paul will struggle to keep up with me round the bends if I max it. Just hope the brakes are sharp enough to scrub off the speed before we hit those mobile speed cameras you like being photographed by in Northants mate ;)

I'm surprised at your age you can remember what happened on Sunday mate. Let's face it you have to leave the Twin at Paul's so you don't need to remember where it is.

I don't know if it's really for sale to be honest. But £500 was mentioned as what the family are/were looking for. Maybe the dealership already bought it. In any case there's no room for a pillion so SWMBO would have to walk alongside, and that ain't gonna happen, so I'd be the one trotting along next to it. For solo riding I'd definitely attach a front sprocket and cycle chain to those pedals to double the top speed.

After checking on flea bay £500 is not a bad price.

If it was closer to me I would consider it a project for my 15 year old son to strip, clean and rebuild.

Not so rare as you might imagine. Looking at the completed listings on ebay, of which there are quite a few, I reckon this one would fetch maybe £300 if treated to a good rub with Autosol. So my dreams of a solid classic investment are shattered.

    Great little classic bike.
My first road bike was a Fantic (6 speed moped) in bright yellow.

Now that is the kind of bike I'm trying to find my son.... a proper geared bike and not just a twist and go moped... hold their value though. Had a look on flea bay for a FS1e like I had when I was 16... got a shock to see how much they go for!!! Some immaculate condition bike were over four grand.

So if anyone knows of a no runner 50cc motorcycle (geared and not a moped) that's going cheap I'm looking for a project for my boy.
