The problem with the rod through the axle type means you can't use the paddock stand to remove the wheel like you can with the swingarm mounted bobbins.

Thanks for all of your replies. I've given it much thought. I contacted the fine folks at Pit Bull and they were immensely helpful. I value their opinion because of my experience with their stand I have for my R9T. They no longer make a stand for the 2016+ Bonnevilles due to the modern swing arm location of the brake caliper. I respect their opinion. So, I have ordered a center stand. Seems to be a bullet proof alternative. I can clean and adjust my chain. And, remove the rear wheel. $336. Looks like I will be adding several lbs. to the weight of the bike. C'est la vie!

Never had a bike without centre stand and don't want one. My T120 came with one, wouldn't have accepted it without. I would say a stand isn't a maybe add on but an essential. All this just to save manufacturers a bit of money on something that for decades was as standard as wheels, unbelievable!

Yes @Brixton Steve Can you imagine strapping an abba stand to your Bonnie just in case you get a puncture. Unfortunately the 660 does not have one. So up the Swanie without the paddle.

I’m of the school of thought if you are looking for weight savings or avoiding adding weight to your machine, it’s best to work with the nut steering the handle bars .

I’m far from scraping the pegs at amateur track days on a Bonnie so, I likely wouldn’t notice the difference of having a center stand added or removed. (Mine is equipped).
