Since it was new my Tiger Sport 2013 has had Triumph Genuine LED Indicators fitted by the dealer. The offside indicators recently stopped working properly. If you press the hazard lights button all the indicators flash once then stop. If you hold the indicator switch in the right position to get the offside to flash, then both front and rear do this... Nearside works perfectly. If you plug a standard filament bulb indicator into the offside front everything works perfectly, both indicators and hazard lights. That sent me down the path of troubleshooting a faulty front offside LED indicator unit, but if you swap the front offside and nearside LED indicator units, the problem persists on the offside, and the offside indicator unit works perfectly on the nearside, suggesting it's not the LED indicator unit itself. As I understand it the Tiger Sport indicators are electronically controlled by the ECU, and there is no flasher relay and hence no need for in-line resistors (there are none fitted anywhere now). I've plugged in TuneECU, no fault codes. Any ideas? Could it be the rear offside indicator unit and the filament bulb at the front compensates for it? I'll try swapping those around another day. Thanks
What’s wrong with left and right? Much easier to understand when written! Without delving into the ‘clever’ bit of the electrics I would first check the earthing arrangement.
Having re-read the op I am left wondering if there IS a resistor failure that is being read as the ‘wrong electrical load’ (as for a blown bulb) and the ECU has gone on strike....
Standing at the rear of the bike looking at the indicators, the one on the left is the nearside, standing at the front looking at it, the one on the left is the offside.
Possibly, but the resistors would need to be built into the Triumph LED indicator units, because there definately isn't any installed in-line. The front offside and nearside (sorry left and right ) work fine if swapped round, so they are fine, but if there is a resistor built into the unit and the rear has failed, then it's a possibility. I'll open up the tail section tonight and swap those around.
But not for our benighted friends on the rest of the planet who foolishly followed the Revolutionary French and drove on the right......
