Thuxton 1200 Question

Lifting the front wheel I do the same as you, apart from I use a plank of wood about 6" by 1" on a trolley jack. If you look under the frame at the front of the bike there are two flat tabs welded on which balance the bike perfectly. If I am leaving the bike suspended for any length of time I am lucky in that I have a beam in the garage roof that I put a sling and a couple of ratchet straps over and secure to the handlebars. Just as belt and braces in case the trolley jack throws a wobbly.

I would invest in an Abba Stand, it will pay for itself over time, and you have no issues at all.

 

I use a headstock stand for the front of my Thruxton R. My bike lives off the ground.

Made by pro bike and very sturdy. It was Triumph technical at head office who recommended them to me.
