    Nah man, the Ribble valley is broad and pretty straight for a few miles there and will attract a significant funnelling effect (much like passing a gate on a walled road on a windy day on yer bike). The smoke to me looks like it’s blown up the valley over Batty Moss.

    Yup, we got a vehicle traffic bridge/ viaduct/overpass like that, 5-6 miles long. The locals just refer to it as the "skating rink" in the winter.
