The crankshaft for a Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C engine, the largest reciprocating engine in the world, used in large container ships. It's a 1810-liter engine that generates 108,920 horsepower at 102 RPM, and it idles at 22 RPM, taking almost 3 seconds per rotation. This crankshaft weighs 300 tons .

I have been lucky enough to see a Spitfire many times, when the Battle of Britain Flight was maintained at Filton just before the display season they used to take it out to practice. Luckily for me one of their favourite places was over fields at the back of my house (i suppose as it was near and sparsely populated). The sound of a Merlin on full chat is unmistakeable and when i heard it i used to dash out to the garden or the field over the fence and have a free 15-20 minute display. I'm sure ive probably linked it before but my favourite bit of spitfire film....
