Dog rescued from the top of Pico De Orizaba in Mexico recently. They reckon it'd been there about a month. Orizaba's just over 18K ft and there nothing but rocks and snow on the summit with below freezing temps at night, significantly thinner air, and elevated UV levels. I did it in the late 90's. Technically a basic climb but you have to be in pretty good shape. Hypoxia is a real threat, although it's well below "the death zone," and people do occasionally have fatal falls, esp. on the descent. Pretty much a miracle that pup survived.
This is actually one of my favourites. It's called Goshin (Japanese: 護神, "protector of the spirit") John Naka started it in 1948. It is on display at the United States National Arboretum.
If only I could go though my working day with that amount of agency. There used to be a programme in the UK that ran for 36 years called One Man And His Dog.
That's unusual. If girls want to dress up as a scary member of the royal family they usually choose Andrew.
