Hi, I'm thinking about getting a Caberg Ghost and just wondered if anyone had any experiences of it. I've read the reviews and the comparison to the Shark Raw (Ghost comes out on top) and I am aware that the chin piece is not protective but not met anyone with any hands on time. Any thoughts appreciated.
Ok in all fairness I’ve a Caberg konda which has been a good helmet and high on the ‘sharp’ test scale. It’s ready to be replaced as it’s worn out but for the money it was impressive
Only if I slide on my chin, think my gut will stop me from landing on my face and maybe I can lose some weight as well
I have a Shark Drak and I find it really good. But I only use it when I am on short rides for cuppa. For all my spirited riding....Shoei or Bell M6
Hi Helmut, all Caberg helmets come out very highly rated in terms of safety on the Sharp helmet testing site. Re the full versus open helmet debate - it's a matter of personal choice. I've used ope face helmets for years and never had an issue with them, except for being pelted by big bugs during summer !! However, I've never come off whilst riding, either The Ghost Rusty looks very cool.
Recently changed to a Caberg Drift Carbon after having an AGV K3. The difference was amazing. Better visibility, comfort, less wind noise and was so much lighter felt almost like i wasn't wearing it. Highly recommend Caberg as a product.
Had one for 6 months now. As with any open face helmets, they are compromises in therms of protection at higher speeds. As I'm mainly up to 3rd gear in town or B road twisties, I'm ok with it. It is a great product, very light and extremely practical as you can easily lift the shield with one hand which I do very often specially in the summer and flip it back down when the amount of insects in your mouth gets over the sustainable limit. It can be easily turned into full open helmet or helmet with eye shield only. At higher speeds, if you look sideways the wind has a tendencies to go under that shield but that is only at 50mph plus. Good helmet with great safety ratings for general cruising and tearing around town. If you do motorway speeds and regular long journeys, chin protection is highly advisable.
just came across this post few years later. hope it still helps. I've replaced my Ghost's visor twice in the last 5 years. It always break at the same spot.
