Went for a pootle around the Yorkshire Dales yesterday and stopped to take a few pictures by the viaduct on the moors (Harry Potter fans might recognise it). Twas a bit cold that high up, there was some snow by the side of the road on the approach so afterwards it was off to Settle for a coffee and lemon drizzle cake.
Had a little run out down the coast to Ravenglass this am and called in to the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (La'al Ratty to us locals) for coffee and saw this old girl getting ready for a run out. Apparently, the River Irt is the oldest narrow gauge loco in the world, unless someone knows better
Had a great sunny run today with Gary (reggie) and Lou (Loucas60) met them at Edinburgh Triumph and had a free coffee and chat before we set off along the coast towards North Berwick, then on towards Kelso where we stopped for lunch,Then we headed towards Peebles for fuel before heading home.Gary was taking the lead as he was more familiar with the area and took us on some good roads that we hadn't been on before which is always good. photo in Kelso Lou,Gary and myself
Yes a nice run out today Dougie in great weather. Haven't been on a scratch around the Borders for a while now so it was good to check it out again. Thanks to Lou also for a very pleasant day (and for paying the lunches lol) My treat next time guys
Was at "work" on Friday, had to stop off for an Ice-cream at Nardini's in Largs. Snickers and double vanilla, before you ask which flavour I went for
Glad to know that Nardini's are still in business. Probably the VERY BEST ice cream north of the border
First went to Nardini's as a kid and then several times over the years for "high tea" etc, then a few years ago someone told me it had closed down. I've not been that way for several years. Does it still have it's cafe and restaurant ?
Still going strong, in fact you have to queue to get an ice-cream and always a wait for a table at the weekend. If the sun comes out, Glasgow goes to Largs!!! We always went to the moorings when I was a kid, did better cream donuts!!!
First experience of their glorious ice cream concoctions was during the mid 80's while I was stating in Largs and working down the road at Hunterstone. Even then there was a queue for the ice cream worth ever minute of the wait Didn't they have a actress daughter who regularly used get her threepenny's out, only in the best possible taste of course?
