Finally received and installed the SW-Motech Street Rack. The rack is a typical SW Motech product: well made, well designed, and easy to install. I then added a Shad33 top case. Without the top case the Street Rack is completely inoffensive. Fort me, as a daily commuter, the top case is a no-brainer. Definitely serves my needs.
I'm sorry to say that the pictures didn't fail to upload! I saw the thread title but still had to look ... bit like when an old lady sits opposite you on the bus with her legs open ... you really try not to look but you just can't help it (no ... it isn't just me!).
Erm, is your dog feeling OK or has it been involved in an accident? The one looking at your bike in the second pic...
That’s a nice installation, what I like about the SW Motech Alurack is that the top box fitting plate can easily be removed when not in use so the bike doesn’t look quite so awkward with a top box not fitted.
Looks pretty cool actually. I’d probably leave it off for general riding but on longer rides it’s great. Like the color choices as well. Does it affect the handling at all?
Besides the fact that it’s not my cup of tea, isn’t it possible to place the top case above the passenger seat? I mean, if you use the seat cover it’s not that you expect a passenger... might take some modification, but would make a huge difference in looks AND weight distribution (plus wind during riding). Anyway, just a thought....
Well, as I love resurrecting dead threads, I thought I might as well ask this here... How did you find the V56 top box? I've just ordered the street rack for the speed RS and that will take a couple of weeks to arrive so now I just need to decide what top box. Yes, I appreciate that this will cause offence to the majority of people here, but likewise, I do a lot of commuting and need to lug a laptop around with me etc. I have been making do with the Kreiga previously but have decided I really should up my game now. I have full luggage on my KTM 1290 SA and it is just so easy to throw a few bits into the topbox etc, but unfortunately that bike has been struck with some reliability issues and it has become clear warranty fixes is not their priority. I am now looking to do a few bits on the speed triple to ensure I have a backup bike for my long distance trips in case needed as well as my usual commute into London etc. I'm currently tempted by the V47 top box but just wanted to check if anyone has had problems with the bigger boxes on the bike especially when its loaded with heavy things? Thanks in advance.
